They are not done. If they are, fine. But I think the Bowmans have another ace up their sleeves. |

Like Jurco's shots (for and against) impact per 60 minutes http://ownthepuck.blogspot.ca/

A 24 year old winger with literally zero points this season. (and only 16 games) - BINGO!
Low cap hit. Seems like a Panik type move. Pretty sure they are not done |

Thought Jurco went in the 2nd round one year right infront of the Hawks pick and that the Hawks wanted him.
Hope thats not the only add - mrpaulish
Yep...2011. Picked right before Adam Clendening. |

Jurco is a good player. Never got a fair shot in DET except for when they called him up originally due to injuries. |

Bummer you guys grabbed Jurco. I was really hoping the Oilers would've been after him. At least, I can hope for Sheahan now. |

Yes, and he's potted 21 in roughly sixty games. Some guys are late bloomers. One Danny Cleary comes to mind. Took a long time, but he turned into a pretty nice player for several years. - MartiniMan
Not at 32 years old.
Cleary had only 4 partial NHL seasons of less than 30 points before he consistently broke 40 points at age 29.
Cleary only had one or two poor offensive seasons between the ages of 24 and 35. |

Cheap ($900k), youngish (24) 3rd line player who did fairly well under Babcock - like okay points, but really solid underlying numbers. Great shot suppression numbers, though shot attempt percentage is way down this year (small sample size and misuse being key reasons). - L_B_R
You've got to love his shots numbers Hero Chart both for and against, no? Blue bubbles are nice to see.

His shot suppression numbers are intriguing, but it should be noted he didn't really ever face high QOC and his zone deployment splits are pretty even. Typical 4th line role/deployment, though he performed better under Babcock than after.
Could be that Q can get the best out of him. |

If Jurco stays on the roster won't someone have to be moved or sent down think Desi or Tootoo will be gone Vey soon |

More than one way to skin a cat!! Make the team better, period. .... I like this move from what little fancy stats I've looked at but will withhold judgment until I see LBR's work.

Agreed. I've always liked him... maybe a change of scenery can help take him to the next level. He has really good hands and a nice shot...
For a third round pick I like the move... even if he doesn't make a huge impact he is a young cost-controlled depth piece. Whoever we would have taken w/ that third round pick likely wasn't going to have a higher ceiling than Jurco. Low-risk possibly high reward... |

Last year he had a back injury in which he had surgery this offseason. His first season when he produced points he got to play with Tatar and Sheahan (Riley and the Slovaks). Since then he was somehow supposed to put up points playing with Glendening and Miller (2 of the worst players in the NHL). He is big and can skate, plays good D, nice hands, and overall solid hockey sense. I am really glad to see him get a new opportunity. |

Which is probably where he slots with the Hawks? His shots impact per 60 bubble is right between 1st and 2nd line.

Maybe they picked him up to expose him in the expansion draft. Now they can protect Hartman, Panik, and Rasmussen. |

Someone mentioned Vinny was sent back to the Rock this afternoon...
still think you're right though...
meanwhile you grab another kid should he play 10 more games can be exposed for the expansion draft.
I would think he'll get a shot to play Sunday...Q usually likes to see what he has right away. I would think Stan has more coming. |

Does anyone have a break down of the style of game Jurco plays? I see he only has 39 points in 159 games played in the NHL. Is he good in his defensive end, or is this a trade to get a player struggling in a system where a change of scenery could help the player - kind of like Panik? - spudrock512
If the posters here don't know by now I write profiles in every draft year you do now...just go read them:

This kid was the YouTube sensation a year before his draft year
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl-Qhy-Y2HY
He just didn't win the position battles on the parent club...Had injuries & He never scored like he did in junior, but around the skilled hawk line-up, he may take the step and if not taken by Las Vegas, he may resign at a low number... |

Thanks for the evaluation. As far as you know is he 100% healthy?
