I agree with you that shooters are the main culprit - when you do poorly on a test or exam - usually because you didn't study enough. Leafs are not scouting and preparing enough for shootouts - plain and simple. Love the coach - but 1 and 7 is unacceptable.

I've been very perplexed watching leaf shootouts this year. Often they have guys back to back do the same exact thing. I keep saying Matthews is a shooter he should shoot and last night Wes first of 7 attempts he shot (and he scores). Marner I would think he's a deker and he comes in and shoots all the time. Makes no sense.

I could see Lou doing this with Polak too...doesnt cost the team anymore than what they're paying now, and they get free prospects/picks out of it

Agree, but proper scouting - every weakness of goalie you are facing, where they have allowed breakaway/shootout goals and practice those attempts before game.

sure, polak has value cause at least he can play in the nhl. and we did it with him last year when we took back torres.

though i don't expect them to be selling polak in the middle of a playoff race.

Whatever gets this team younger and faster..

Id hope so, but I doubt it.

I have no issue retaining on liach for the rest of the year to move him, but I don't think anyone is going to take him at 2mil....he's just not that good.

but if we paid the 4.5 like we're paying already (-900K), the other team wont pay anything $$$....but they do pay up a prospect...I do understand his calibre may not be worth a good prospect either though

Serious question for everyone: what is going on in Montreal? Apparently PK was not the problem? Is it just a lack of offence? Has Price simply made them look like a top team, and when he is off his game we see them for what they really are?

Just bizarre that they have gone from a contender in the east to this...

Shattenkirk is a rental at this point - he will cash bigtime on July 1, he does not have to hurry into a deal. The Blues on the other hand - will lose him for nothing unless he moves. Likely landing spots are Washington or NY Rangers - both teams that have a chance this year and losing a low first rounder and a prospect would be a mosquito bite.

I believe this to be exactly the case. They would love to acquire Shattenkirk, but won't sacrifice the assets St. Louis wants.

We would have called that good management once upon a time.

It's the same as last year. The team is consists of Carey Price and a questionable lineup after that.
