On top of it you have an abundance of NHL caliber prospects ready in just a couple of seasons (maybe even sooner) and your gonna have to sign him to a decent length/ expense contract. NAH. - jak521
I do think he's an upgrade but still pass. Re sign Mason for cheap and give Stolarz more games.
What the hell is the point of developing these kids if you cock block them with Bishop who will get a mega deal. |

Do you really think those guys are going to be unprotected? Not likely! - Konalover
No, but I think they should be protected. So yes, I do think it matters who they protect. |

I think it will either be Neuvirth/Stolarz next year or they will get a goalie in a deal at the TDL who has another year to expose at the expansion draft. Someone to compete with stolarz next season.

I don't like a player, so the amount of money they count against the cap is "dead".

Exactly.. Unless its a 3 year deal. Then you go Bishop the first two years while Stolie backs him up, and then third year they reverse roles. It just doesnt make much sense. |

If the Flyers trade assets for Bishop. I bet you the rights to naming my 1st child - Bishop gets a big contract. |

Not at all. But its not exactly dead space. Dead space was RJ Umberger and Vinny not playing.
Dead space is Pronger.

Well they do have to select one player from the flyers. Yes. Read can play multiple positions and up and down the lineup, kill penalties. And they will need some money and term on deals. - J35Bacher
no i understand they are required to take one player from the flyers. but why would they limit themselves to selecting from that trio that was just so tenderly referred to as dead money. |

They're all overpaid for their performance level in 16-17. That's different than dead money like Umberger's buy out penalty. |

Stolarz has done his time in the AHL. He has had a very limited taste this season and played well. He should get more games after the deadline this year, and more so next season.
If the Flyers focused on drafting goaltenders and developing them in the lower ranks like they have - I dont want Bishop.

Everyone who's exempt or protected will be exposed. It will about a list of 20+ players. - Feanor
I don't think it will be that high...if they have not been signed to an entry level contract, player less than 2 years pro than they are exempt, then the other 7fwd 3 D, or 8 of any type protections that the team can designate...I think you end up with less than 10 guys exposed. |
