And if Mason played in Edmonton against that fired up Oilers team the gap would be bigger than .905 to .889.
- Feanor

Mason could have started against any of the three west coast Canadian teams.

Oh, I am. But I didn't mind them giving Kelly a shot, because in that league, you gotta have a legit coach and elite QB to win, and both are hard to find.

It's hard for me to kill the Eagles, because they have been trying like hell to find a QB since McNabb started to decline. It's just so damn hard to do, but they know they need it and they don't try to pretend otherwise

I'm just curious as to how they're not more frustrating than the Flyers/Sixers.

In backreading, just my thought: I have always been a Mason supporter and still think he is a good goalie. But I can't kill the coach for not running a guy with a .889 out there

We have all watched the games. I think it's fair to say that while only a few guys are having impressive seasons, it's not unfair to look at the goaltending they have gotten this season and say that they haven't always gotten the saves they needed

The offense sure has dried up recently, but the goaltending cost us a lot of early season points. League average goaltending and we're probably still the the 2 WC spot.

Pretty much a brutal time to be a Philly sports fan right now...

Not sure what Neuvy has done to get this many starts in a row.

Look how bad our stats are when you remove the best stretch of the season! This proves everything!

to me it's not what Nuevy has done....it's what mason hasn't done. I agree with Bill's assessment, that both have not preformed like they did last year.

I think Hak clearly favors Neuvy and I wouldn't even argue that could mean the team does a bit too, but there is no point at trying to use some stats from a specific time period as the reason why it is happening. There are plenty of stats that show Mason is better, and they dont matter either. The string of starts is the same as VDV in the lineup. It is his preference and his choice

Mainly because, tbh, they really haven't done anything that I would classify as just stupid. When they gave Reid the shiv, he really had run his course. He needed a change. Going to Kansas City was best for him and the team, to me

They took a shot on Bradford based on tools -- can't fault them for that, and everyone knew that if it didn't work out, you would be able to flip him for something in a league starving for QBs

Wentz...same thing. You evaluate the QBs, and if you think that is the guy, pay the price and get him. Jury is still out, obviously, but you can see what they were thinking when you watch him play

They draft OK, make no more or fewer mistakes than most teams. Pederson wasn't too bad. He might evolve into a good coach

I think the biggest thing I say about the Eagles is that they know you are either getting better or getting worse. They don't keep trying to do the same thing for longer than you should. I don't always agree, and it doesn't always work. But I know they are trying to not just survive or tank -- when they are bad, it's because they tried to do something big and it didn't work

That's where I am

The defenseman, PK and team defense haven't been so bad that they shouldn't have gotten league average goaltending, imo

agreed....I think its disappointing that Mason hasn't been able to change Hakstol's mind....It's not like Nuevy has stolen the job with fantastic play. I really hoped Mason was the foreseeable future's go to # 1. I just don't see it.

That's an unfair statement. The Flyers started strong in that game. Neuvirth let in a terrible goal to start the game and was mediocre on the other 5.

Vancouver, after getting lit up for 6 goals in Edmonton. They won, so moot point but that was pretty questionable.

Look, it doesn't matter what I say. If I say up, you guys are gonna say down. The word fan is short for fanatic. We all reserve the right to criticize this team if we notice errors. What I take exception to by the direction of this team is, we have a window, a real opportunity to improve before October. The Vegas draft, talented youth coming up, UFAs on the way out. Shifting the focus on the goaltending, we have an opportunity to play our two goaltenders, make a decision by Tuesday Night and get one out for the most we can possibly get. I'm not sure you can do this if one doesn't play.

You really think Mason was gonna hold Edmonton at home to 2 goals or less? He couldn't manage that against Carolina or the Islanders after the AS break, and playing poorly in those games is how he ended up benched.
