Shattenkirk was born in 1989 just like McDonagh
if Shatty is over the hill so is McDonagh - jimbro83
No, but within 2 years of his 7 year 7 million dollar contract he will start to slow down and the last 3-4 years of it we will be regretting it. |
|
|
|
When Shatty turned down Tampa Bay offer of $7 mil for 6 years, he placed the Blues front office in a real bind. The message was, I want to be a Ranger. Nothing is certain, but the Blues may have to accept pretty much what the Rags will offer, as long as they can save face. If that's Nash, so be it. - OLDSCHOOL#6
so trade our best F for a good D?? i dont think so. Nash will most likely be a ranger till he retires. people need to get that. after his contract is up, he will sign a cheaper deal to stay here and continue competing for the cup. |

I saw, 1-7 in shootouts? That's a lot of lost points. - B2B76
a lot of gained loser points too though. |

He wants to know what he'll get on the open market, can't really blame the guy. The deal he nixed was apparently $42Mx7, so you know he thinks he's going to get at least another million per on the UFA market. I wouldn't pass up that money either. Sucks for STL but anyone who blames him is delusional. - eichiefs9
He also wants to play for the Rangers so he might take a deal to play there. Something at least compreable to what Tampa offered |

I don't think it's that far-fetched that he'd want to play for the Rangers, but I don't think that's been officially reported anywhere...has it? |

Let's play this out: if they got Shattenkirk and someone like Sharp or Boyle, where are they as a Cup contender? - airjan23
no matter who they get or dont get, this year is just like every other year. we will win or lose the cup based on Henrik. he is our highest paid player for a reason. at the top of his game we can have an AHL team out there and still compete, when he struggles, it doesnt matter who we have. |
|

|
i think Stevey Y may have hurt TB a little with some of his recent contract negotiations. the way he treated MSL, forcing some players to take less money just because he can.
I completely agree, i think Shatty wants to know what the rangers would be willing to pay him before he accepts any type of deal with another team. - richardson30
Yzerman has certainly overmanaged Tampa in my opinion |

It's been kind of reported extensively over the last 3 or so years.
Elliotte Friedman noted on Thursday that "rightly or wrongly" there is a belief that Shattenkirk wants to sign with the Rangers. (FanRag)
And
Freidman then adds, "Although, as I've said before, other teams are convinced he wants to play for the Rangers." (Sportsnet)
And
Adrian Dater tweets that Shattenkirk wants to play for the Rangers but they don't have enough cap space. (Dater)
And
Brooks does note that there is a belief that Shattenkirk might give the Rangers a "hometown discount." (NY Post) |

The Cup trumps all. That's why I never griped about all the youth we dealt away in 94, it was a necessary means to that ultimate end. |

Yeah I'm not trying to argue against the fact that he probably does want to play for the Rangers, but none of that is really concrete "Kevin Shattenkirk has expressed a desire to play for the Rangers".
But yes, it's logical, it's likely, and it'll probably happen. |

You still have to factor in that Florida has no state taxes. That and the cost of living in NYC could mean his 7 years for $42m in Florida would have to be closer to 7 years $46-$49m in NY. |

True. Tough to get any player to outright say they want to play for a specific team while under contract with a different one though, so it's the best we got. |

Good work, I just read that there's a great chance he goes there as the rangers traditionally get players that want to be there even if they give up more. Staal and msl are examples as both said they would ONLY play there and Rangers still got it done. |

Unfortunately the players don't want to do that. I think the original proposition by the NHL was 4 on 4 folllwes by 3 on 3 then SO but the NHLPA said no. |

I just don't understand what is wrong with a tie. Last night was a classic example. Neither Freddie or Hank deserved to lose when they played so well during regulation and OT. So stupid. |

They really should adjust their cap to account for that. That gives the Lightening and Panthers an unfair advantage, which is not in the spirit of the cap. |

NO Shootouts in the playoffs, so that's a good sign for the Leafs. I'm confident you get in....btw, insane shot by Matthews on his SO goal, what a laser! |
