Sooooooooo
Maybe it wasn't the coach afterall... - WaterBoy
I do think the coaching change was a good idea.
But this team isn't diffrent from last year.
Without Carey Price playing godlike on a regular basis, they are just not a good enough team to compete.
Everything was going well early on.... but we probably should have known some things wouldn't continue:
Byron wasn't turning into a 30 goal scorer.
Mitchell wouldn't score 20 on the 4th line.
Emelin is simply not a first pairing defenseman.
And so on.
This being said, it was hard to predict that:
Galchenyuk would look like a ghost of his pre-injury self.
Plekanec would go from getting around 50 points to barely getting 35.
Gallagher wouldn't score or put up numbers.... at all....
So when the first few things going well stopped and the things that were not working never started to.... well we end up with a team that has nothing good enough to compete.
Even if the Habs do make the playoffs, it's hard to see them having any kind of decent run at the cup at this point.
They always seem to wait for the worst drafts to keep a poopton of picks instead of trading them.... - BashCH
At this point you have to believe Bergevin has ruled out the rentals, so hopefully he keeps those picks, unless a trade comes up that helps beyond this year and he has to throw one in the deal... Trading picks or prospects for rentals now would be like selling your car for gas money...
I expect him to move Desharnais for a 6th round pick, maybe a 5th if they retain some cash, Pateryn (unfortunately) will probably be dealt for a 3rd! I could definitely see Beaulieu moving but probably more so after the season

I won't be sure until March 2nd....the guy wants to save his job...

Trading them should cost him his job, rentals would be a dumb move on his part, unless it's a very low price and with the amount of buyers there's gonna be, you can bet it won't be
