The prospect is probably a garbage one and a secound round pick from the Pens is closer to a third one. - deadpoulet

It's setting the market though, thinking about trades coming in the next 6 days not this one in particular - highstick87
I might be wrong, but I expect a lot of 2nd round picks to be traded, but not much 1st round ones. That is what we have seen in the last few years. |

Pick number 1 or pick 29? It's still a first round pick. |

Kristo was acquired earlier in the year for Reid McNeil.... he was pegged as a higher end goal scoring prospect but I haven't seen much from him this year..... he might get an NHL look in Carolina but was buried behind Sheary, Rust, Guentzel, Sundqvist, Bleuger, Archibald, and Simon on the depth chart.
Moreso just a 2nd rounder for a 4-5-6 dman which you can never have enough of of you're a contender. |

the value of the picks is easy to know. it'll almost surely be in the ~52-62 range of the draft. |

No no, just wondering what Colorado is going to get for Duchene or Landeskog or St. Louis with Shattenkirk if Hainsey is scoring you a second round pick? - highstick87

No he won't. If Ty Rattie and Martin Frk couldn't get in the lineup, Danny Kristo sure as (frank) won't. |

I guess he might if the Canes trade away a couple F at the deadline without getting any back but it's still unlikely |

certainly an interesting price paid.
I wonder if this pushes Holland even more into putting Brendan Smith out there... despite his blind loyalty sometimes. |

Carolina retained 50% of Hainsey's salary too, so that drove up the price as well. |

Even then, still no. The only UFA forwards we've got are Viktor Stalberg and Jay McClement.
Lukas Wallmark, Andrej Nestrasil, and Andrew Poturalski are likely the next in line for a call-up. Kristo is just a warm body to help with Pitts contract flexibility and our AHL depth post deadline. |

Not really though, it's not hard to break down the value of picks. GM's know the % chances that a pick from 55-60 becomes a bust, fringe player, regular, superstar. The odds of a positive outcome are much higher if it's a pick between 31-35. |

Sorry.... meant high end AHL goal scoring prospect... never projected to be anything more....my mistake... hence why I wasn't upset about losing him for Hainsey. |

Read it's 50% retained on Hainsey's money over in the Pens thread.... guess that's why it was a 2nd and a player as opposed to a 3rd.

Likely. Doesn't really hurt the Canes to retain it and it improves the pick by 15-30 spots, so why not.
Three picks in the second round is fun. |
