So, it looks like 2 Shattenkirk deals have fallen through due to his refusal to negotiate an extension. According to his agent, he is insistent on testing free agency. This makes me wonder if the Blues just decide to hang on to him for the playoffs then swap his rights prior to the draft. If that is the case, it would hopefully, at least slightly, increase the value of Streit to a contender.

Sure. Never underestimate the importance of puck moving defensemen regardless of how crap they are in their own end.

The deal is a (frank)ing travesty. I don't care if they had traded Okafor for a used jockstrap, it still would have made more sense than trading Noel. The Coangelos are (frank)ing clueless. - BiggE
I would honestly like to know how fans feel about Dave Hakstol in his two seasons as bench boss of the Flyers. Most know how I feel. I like him more than Craig Berube in terms of attitude but the system it's doesn't strike me as much different from Berube's. Neither system has ever felt like a game change system like Lavy, Hitch or Torts. I've give detailed reasons why I don't think marriage is gonna last forever and not because we have a bad roster but how he chooses to use this bad roster. At times I think he makes it worse with scratches that don't make sense and combinations that don't look like they have a chance at succeeding.

I was thinking the same thing. I was trying to think of other dmen that might be available but Streit could be close to the top of the best available.
Who would have thought I would be hoping for a absolutely horrible game against the pens tomorrow to just put the nails in the coffin here and start selling.

I hope the Flyers Pens game tomorrow is a nasty hate filled high scoring game... in which we lose on a bull poop call.

right now the Flyers have the 12th worst record, so drafting 13th. 4 teams are 1 point behind the Flyers. NJ 3 points behind. top 10 pick isn't so far fetched

Actually the post mentions two individuals. Thanks for clearing that up though pal. - jak521
Actually, the post clearly pointed out a pacific deal fell apart so the question was what type of attention one of our own could have. Only one of the two players are awful in their own end if you need a hint. It's pretty cut and dry.

I kinda laid it out earlier in the day yesterday...I think 9th is their best case scenario, but they have been awful at collecting points lately

Could have been 10th if Kings and Bolts won last night

yeah sorry i didn't see that. work got busy and I didn't end up back reading. If LA gets Quick back and Tampa gets Stamkos back I can see them passing the Flyers. Not sure about Buffalo or the Devils. the Flyers have 3 games in hand to the Jets so I doubt they pass the Flyers. Carolina is 7 back but have 4 games in hand. that said I think they are selling and highly doubt they pass the Flyers.
I'll be seriously disappointed if they don't move MDZ and Streit.

I think Hakstol is a very good coach, and it still remains to be seen how good of an NHL coach he becomes. I don't think there is such as thing as a game changing system.

There is simply no good argument for keeping these guys if they arent going to resign them. Even still it is possible to sign them again.
I am kind of counting on at least 4 of those teams you mentioned passing the Flyers, but I also see them going on a run late in the year for no reason. Just seems like it is what they do

Its exactly what they do...
Remember the year they drafted Morin they had that late surge where the won something like 8 of the last 10 games.. Went from like the 6th spot to the 11th spot.
