I flagged you because you used "assume" and "assuming" too many times. I agree with you that Hansen will factor Vegas into his decisions....but, Whatever team trades for him may expose him to Vegas anyways. He will likely force Vancouver's hand into trading Granlund or Bae and at least that way he can control his next 18 months in Vancouver. Alternatively, he plays 3 months in Pitts and then a year in Vegas. Don't thing the family would be to happy with that. Many different scenarios at play.

I'm assuming your assumptions are less valid then mine.

Of course, he lost a step with injuries, but the majority of the time here he was a good skater and penalty killer. He is 3 years older than Hansen, whats to say that wont be similar case in a couple years? Keep the younger guys who can improve, not the older ones that decline
- WhiteLie

The insiders on the team are saying Burr's recovered from those injuries and has turned back the clock a couple years now.

Look at his play and how involved it is in on ice situations. He can keep up with Bo so he's still got it. What he can't do is lift the Sedins and be a shooter for them. That's on their decline.

Burr is a great complimentary vet playoff type player that can be deployed in the middle six and be effective. Get the greasy goals. Agitate and draw penalties or put players off their game. Especially goalies cause he goes to the dirty areas. That's his value. He's not a perimeter skill player. So his lack of skill is overcome by his tenacity that plays big in the playoffs.

Mackenzie makes a good point below which is why I think teams will likely view Hansen as a pure rental:

One potential road block for a Hansen deal could be the looming expansion draft, as noted by TSN's Bob McKenzie yesterday. "Let's say there's a team out there that likes Hansen. They say 'we'll give you a second round pick and a pretty good prospect for Jannik Hansen. But the team that's giving up the second round pick and the prospect now gets Hansen and they have to protect him in the expansion draft. So now they're losing a real good player in the expansion who they otherwise wouldn't have to expose. So now the acquisition price for Hansen isn't just the second round pick and the prospect, it's now the player they're gonna lose in the expansion draft as well. So the price starts to go up."

We were talking about Higgins and comparing him to Hansen, Burrows is as good as gone. Whether its TDL or free agency

That really sucks and impedes the Nucks' ability to try to get any assets this TDL. The sooner you start, the sooner things turn around.

That old (frank) has nothing on the Nerds over at C.A

Anaheim, for instance, has to protect Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler due to their no-movement clauses, but then has four spots left for Rickard Rackell, Jacob Silfverberg, Andrew Cogliano, Antoine Vermette and Jared Boll. Boll is expendable, and Vermette is 34 with just one year left on his contract - he could be a palatable loss,

That isn't the only option either, as Boston, currently tied for the final wild card spot, looks like they could easily afford to protect Hansen as well. The same goes for San Jose and St. Louis, who are both in good positions in their divisions. Then you get to the pure Cup contenders like Pittsburgh and Washington

It's a good point,
However, every team is going to lose a 'real good player' regardless of if they pick up hansen or not.
Trades and deals can be made to figure out those things down the track.
But it remains a good point, a further complicating factor for GMs making trades.

NERDS

No wayyyy Hansen waives for Boston I doubt St. Louis as well. Perhaps SJ makes sense. It's reasonably close and it's...California

he can only select 8 teams he doesn't want to play on, that leaves 24 that he would waive for...so...depending on strategy, i could see Boston being on the yes list.

We will certainly find out, one way or another.
Be it at 3PM the day of the TDL, or the day after when all the epic offers that Benning turned down get revealed.

Oh and don't forget!
By virtue of us having a 2nd round pick, we are almost guaranteed at-least one trade

I've heard both Pierre LeBrun & Bob McKenzie say that their sense is that most contenders are focused on the playoffs and will worry about the expansion draft after.
