No but you are willing to bet and revisit a stat that was never argued and that is contextually unequal. - Feds91Stammer
We absolutely discussed point totals and points-per-game. |

Because raw totals are very important?
I mean, if a player puts up 100 points, but another player puts up 70ish points they're basically the same player if they're similar in some advanced stats. Who cares about those extra 30ish points |

Wouldn't even do that for just a first. Green is nothing but a power play specialist. And even then he's not what he once was. He wouldn't even be used on the pp in Pitt - jchst22

There are SO many other things to look at to see if they are similar or not. |

Could some players get traded already. This Caps/Flyers game is boring as f*ck. |

If you're giving up a 1st, then you might as well go for Shattenkirk. I know Green is still under contract, but Shattenkirk >>>>> Green. - Rinosaur
If I'm going to take a guess. A 1st is just throw in on shat. He's going to get a guy like sprong and a 1st plus maybe a third asset. |

If we have Letang and Shultz, do we really want to pay a premium for a RH defenseman? Personally, I'd be looking at lefty D-men. |

I have no idea what it will take to get Shattenkirk, but I'm sure a 1st will be involved. A 1st is not something you just throw in. My point is that if thinking of moving a 1st, you're better off going after someone like Shattenkirk, not Green. |

Shatts = 28.
Now that means something, but I just can't put my finger on it???
How old is too old for Dmen in the NHL, because 30 & you're (frank)ed if you are a forward!

I think most would agree with you there! Who the (frank) will pay a 1st for Green & his 6m contract?? Is anyone sure a team will go a 1st for Shatts?? |

It is when the 1st is devalued this year. Sprong plus 1st plus 2nd is a lot more than what green would cost. |

For shatts I'd do it without even thinking. And I'm anti trading significant futures this year. St. Louis will have 10 teams willing to trade a first for him. |

Shattenkirk would be a great pickup but I'd rather look at someone like Trouba who is LH and they could afford to retain. Would the Jets do Fleury & Maata for Trouba and Hutchinson?

Well that may be possible, but just name a few that will have the resources & need to do it?
Pens - maybe?
Rags - 'probably' not
Hawks - I personally doubt it as they need LW help
Wild - no
Habs - need scoring don't they?
Bruins - possibly
Ducks - no
Kings - no
Wash - doubt it very much
Sharks - no
Preds - no
Blow jackets - maybe
Panthers - ?
Tampa - doubt it
Who else do you think?

Right now I am all good with the Pens trading picks and prospects if it gets them a big improvement for a playoff run.
This past year it seems all of the Pens forward prospects have started to pan out. Sheary, Rust, Guentzel, Wilson all look like top 9 capable young players. Sprong and Simon are out there too with a lot of potential. They could trade away Sprong and their first and be fine for the next several years. And Pens need to cut ties with Pouliot, even if they can't get fair value. |

Could a Framework deal be made or how far off would it be Franson (Salary retained up to 50%) for Pouliot |

Whp would have thought at this time last year Ian Cole would. have been the solid rock of our d corp. I think this team could win with 6 Coles. |

Why wouldn't a team give up a 1st (especially a team 1st in what's considered a weak draft if they are a contending team) to add a top pairing defenseman with another year on their contract the their team?
What makes giving up a 1st for a ufa that's going to walk in 3 months more appealing than a year and a half of a top pairing defenseman? I understand the expansion draft (frank)s everything up, but still... top pair defenseman don't come on the market often, a 1st at the least is very fair. |
