Strome can, and should, be better than Nelson but I don't know if I'm ready to say that yet. He's looked really good since Weight took over and he definitely plays with a little edge to his game, but until he produces like Nelson over a long period of time...I'm not ready to say that he's better yet. - eichiefs9
I fully believe that Crappy was holding him back. Not intentionally but with his stupid coaching. There were interviews where Strome sounded perplexed. Now he's playing with some confidence. However it remains to be seen if this is a temporary bump, or a new and improved Strome. |

This is all fair. Nelson still has the numbers over Strome. I just have a problem with Nelson type players. His soft play brings bad flashbacks to Frans. |

I agree. March is too late. NHL franks everything up. Playoff format, 3 point games and trade deadline. When are they going to get something right? |

8-10 blue chip prospects??? I don't know about that.
The Islanders have approximately 3 prospects that I'd consider blue-chip guys. Barzal, Sorokin, Pulock. That's about it.
I'm fine with trading any of the guys not listed above, but they definitely aren't considered blue chip prospects around the league and they aren't going to be the centerpiece of any major deals. Not saying they're worthless, but they aren't top-tier prospects. - eichiefs9
Gotta think that maybe L&M have put a cap on Garth making any trades unless they are slam dunk winners/too good to turn down. Per Staples reports, they may just want to hold tight for this season & give the new President & potential (hopefully) new GM the most assets to work with. Rentals come at a high price and theres a lot of road games ahead & thru the end of the season. I think they will hold pat or be sellers, at best. |

I thought Staple has mentioned in the past Garth had full control to do what was needed? Would make sense to hold off on anything big until the new president and possible new GM take over. Have to think if the Isles miss the playoffs or are out in one round, the new people will really look to make a splash. |

Nelly has more edge than Frans. This team is w/o an enforcer. Strome probably is number 2 or 3 in fights this year. Maybe thats part of the prob. Brock gets into scrums when he goes to the net but I agree he could be tougher. |

Must be nice to Frans. Must be nice to Frans.
.
I'm not looking for fights from Nelson. Just drive the net and be tougher in the D zone |

I think it matters on the term where the $$ is. But we are aligned on what he will get.
Thing is on The Isles and away from his buddies that formed that incredible line is he the same player point wise? - nyisles7
I mean it's certainly a risk, but I think it's a calculated one. I think he could probably play just as well with Tavares and Lee. Him centering two other wings though? No clue. |

I think it's pretty obvious that the players respect Weight and are playing hard for him. Strome has been given a role and it seems to be something's he's needed. |

Oh yeah, I don't think that anything is happening at the deadline. I don't really want any rentals. Market is thin, prices will be high, and there isn't much talent out there in that market.
Any significant moves will be made after the playoffs are over. But there won't be much time because, if I recall, the expansion draft will be at some point in June, before the regular draft. |

I meant the report when Stape confirmed owners searching for PoHOps for next year. I dont remember a quote but it felt like they were not willing to go all in, this season.
They WERE dead last in the conference when Cappy was fired, however but still, if they wanted Garth to make a big acquisition, wouldnt they have been willing to overpay a little to get a solid player like MD or GL by now? Why wait till last minute? Team is fighting to climb into the PO's. |

Very hard to make a huge splash at the deadline. Hate to give Garth a pass, but it's going to be real tough.
I really hope L & M have a good idea on who they want for President. No time to waste. |
