Tampa has to trade him. They're not going to be able to sign him, Palat and Drouin and I'd place a much bigger importance on signing the latter two. Maybe they hold on to him until after the season (RFA will still carry plenty of value), but it's highly likely they move him.

They need defenseman and we are probably going to have to trade one of CdH/Hickey, or risk losing them to LV. A trade centered around one of those guys and another asset would likely be pretty reasonable for both sides. Tampa can't add much salary, but needs competent defensemen badly. Both of those defenseman make reasonable money. CdH needs a contract but I don't see him getting much more than he's making now. Hickey has another year at $2.2M, which is pretty good for what he provides.

They need someone who can play on the fourth line. Neither of those guys are capable of that.

My thing with prospects is that they can kill it in Juniors kill it in the AHL and then they get to the NHL and they forget that they are playing hockey. Prospects are chances and sometimes those chances dont turn out to be NHL talent no matter what the scouts say. You never know what you are getting until they step on NHL ice.

I dont disagree.......how many times do people on here say "30 goal scorers are never traded". You have guys up for grabs......so you pay up and get one. I dont think its going to hurt the future of this team. I'd argue that not bringing in one of the elite names mentioned would hurt them though.

Do we know what the injuries to CC and CC were?

#Isles injury update: Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) and Casey Cizikas (upper body) will not return to tonight's game

Clutterbuck must have aggravated whatever was holding him out prior. Cizikas pretty clearly did something to his hand/wrist on that fluky play. No idea what, but it looks like he may have jammed a finger.

Yzerman has been a mastermind as gm thus far and has even gotten guys to sign under market... There is no way he trades Johnson with in the conference for anything less than what the Duchene asking price is, CDH and Hickey aren't getting it done

Interesting player to add Ses, however he is a RFA July 1st so, no term left with him so what does it take to sign him? $/Term?

Yeah I saw Cizikas took his glove off right away. Clutterbuck prob came back too soon. Either way that sucks being on the road and being wihtout those two. Hopefully some young blood will work their bags off for the big club.

I think he's a good option if Sakic won't budge (which is highly likely) on Duchene's asking price.

Trading something like Barzal, Pulock, & 1st or Nelson, MDC, Pulock, & 1st is insanity. It won't make this team better.

Johnson is a good second option, plus Snow and Yzerman have a history of doing business together.

I get it, JHS is on fire now but his off ice issues are why he doesn't get consideration...MDC quite frankly has not been anywhere near good enough.... But at some point we need to see Pulock back up

Ho Sang can't even spell the word "defense" and MDC, as you said, isn't worthy of a call-up. They need someone who can slot in on the 4th line and I don't think either of them fit the bill. Not to mention it's much better for their development to be playing big minutes in BPT instead of getting 7:00 TOI here.

I agree. Sakic needs to come back to Earth. Garth has to look at Plan B. He needs to do his homework and find another player that can help.

The thing is...Sakic doesn't need to come back to earth. He can put his feet up and tell everyone that the price is the price, take it or leave it. Duchene has plenty of term left, isn't a problem, and is a really, really good player. He's under no pressure to move him. If he caves on Duchene's price he should be fired on the spot.

Again I agree everyone should be available for a trade no matter who they are. No one should be safe. In that case players will play harder and want to stay. For me one guy like Nelson can be traded. Very streaky player takes stupid penalties and his defensive play has been lacking. Also with all these prospects they all can not play on this team there is no room for them. I say lets get something done and enough of GArths little babies and move forward. This team has been stuck in neutral for way to long

I agree. I'm looking at it from the Isles side though. I'm fine if a deal cannot be made with Sakic. Go get someone else. Garth cannot fall for just one guy like with Stamkos.
