So negative Upstate.

Hey I always said, any team who makes the playoffs there is a chance.

Except the Caps, I will never consider them cup contenders.

I thought Isles fans hated the Caps. Well, I guess you are an Isles fan.

Have you not forgiven Chimera for his comments?

F Chimera.

I don't hate the Caps, they just choke during the playoffs no matter how good their regular season.

I think Snow is just stalling because he's waiting to see who he can trade for thats a UFA. He prefers giving up assets for UFAs, who'll take less money to go elsewhere.

Im fine with all of this.......and I do realize that Johnson is the "cheaper" option. But, I personally think its time to make a splash with landing a Duchene or Landeskog. Both are young and both are elite. Its not often that gets offered. After seeing the isles 8-10 blue chip propsects, im fine with parting with a few to land elite talent.
- kindlyrick

8-10 blue chip prospects??? I don't know about that.

The Islanders have approximately 3 prospects that I'd consider blue-chip guys. Barzal, Sorokin, Pulock. That's about it.

I'm fine with trading any of the guys not listed above, but they definitely aren't considered blue chip prospects around the league and they aren't going to be the centerpiece of any major deals. Not saying they're worthless, but they aren't top-tier prospects.

Wonder if he has a brother who never quite made it with any NHL team, but has a lot of upside?

2 things abut Johnson ...first off even if he is moved I do not see TB doing it with in the Conference and if so the price with in conference is going to be super high prospect loaded ...secondly I do not see TB moving him, especially that since the triplets have been reunited they are killing it... Tb will look to beg borrow and steal to unload garbage contracts by over paying example chicago/carolina trade last season, and try and re sign him by all means necessary before even entertaining the idea of trading him and will look out west before they talk to teams in the east

Sounds like Cizikas and Clutterbuck are both out for a little bit, with that recall.

Gio and Kearns will be in, 11/53/15 all out.

Thats fine, and clearly im not gonna sit here and argue each and every prospect. But, i'll say this.......those 8-10 prospects are just that right now. Prospects. The isles are prospects at every position. What i find most interesting is the isles brass (i.e Snow), not willing to part with prospects who frankly didnt crack the roster. Can't have it both ways.

Would be very surprising if they Traded Johnson to the Isles. So Stevie Y will do what Garth has failed to do? All we need his Tyler Johnson and bouncing girls.

My thing with prospects is that they can kill it in Juniors kill it in the AHL and then they get to the NHL and they forget that they are playing hockey. Prospects are chances and sometimes those chances dont turn out to be NHL talent no matter what the scouts say. You never know what you are getting until they step on NHL ice.

Tampa has to trade him. They're not going to be able to sign him, Palat and Drouin and I'd place a much bigger importance on signing the latter two. Maybe they hold on to him until after the season (RFA will still carry plenty of value), but it's highly likely they move him.

They need defenseman and we are probably going to have to trade one of CdH/Hickey, or risk losing them to LV. A trade centered around one of those guys and another asset would likely be pretty reasonable for both sides. Tampa can't add much salary, but needs competent defensemen badly. Both of those defenseman make reasonable money. CdH needs a contract but I don't see him getting much more than he's making now. Hickey has another year at $2.2M, which is pretty good for what he provides.

They need someone who can play on the fourth line. Neither of those guys are capable of that.
