Well hopefully the new owners can exercise the patience needed to do the right thing. Giving up the world for Duchene is not the right move.

I haven't really said this openly yet, but don't be surprised if we find out that the Islanders are players for Tyler Johnson, too. He's not Duchene, but would be a really, really good 1B option for the 2nd line center spot.

Yeah he's tweeted about it a few times and it makes sense. Price wouldn't be nearly as high as Duchene. It makes perfect sense that they'd have interest in him.

NHL teams at Marlies/Crunch this morning: NYI LV DAL BUF NSH ARI BOS OTT NJ NYR (and Toronto/Tampa obviously)

Stealing this from Jimbo, but looks like Isles have a scout(s) at the TOR/TBL AHL-affiliate game.

I could handle hamonic and Nelson and a pick as we need to lose a contract to get him and we are gonna lose d in expansion draft so get something for one. Johnson is very interesting as well, probably because Tampa can't resign him? 17 g 20 a so far and he's 203 points in 299 games so I'd be interested for sure.

I like a bunch of TB players, so adding TJ/Killorn/Palat will make this team better talent wise

I think all of those who don't think Landes, Duchene, or Mac is Elite will be eating those words if We make the trade. They are extremely talented NHL players and we should try very hard to make a move to get one.
- niteislander

Completely agree......all three mentioned are elite. All three would be huge additions to this club. The PP would be relevant.

I would be very happy with Tyler Johnson, but as you mentioned, he's not Duchene. At what point does this team make it a priority to land JT a winger. I realize that people have Duchene as a 2c, but he'd be playing with JT on the PP, and in my perfect world be his winger.
I think if a new GM came in, his first move in his first month would be getting JT a winger. The prospect pool is deeper than its ever been, so parting with a few pieces to land a bona fide 30 goal scorer is a must do.

I think they'll be losing Johnson/Bishop so that they can re-sign Drouin and Palat.

Bishop doesn't interest me. Good goaltender, but at age 30 I'm not prepared to give him a 6x6 contract, or anything close to that.

The problem is that you're not landing a bonafide 30-goal scoring winger via trade. Not without paying something along the lines of what COL is asking for Duchene.

Johnson can play the wing as well and is a RH shot. If we signed him, he'd be due a contract next year (pending RFA). A long-term signing of Johnson would allow them to have the flexibility to ease Barzal in at center (where the Isles have openly stated they want him to play) and eventually transition him into a scoring role on the second line 2 or 3 years into his NHL career. Once he's ready, you can move Johnson up to L1 as a RH scoring winger.

I'm all for a splash and the Isles can use one, but it has to make sense.

I would like Johnson as a 2C.

Im fine with all of this.......and I do realize that Johnson is the "cheaper" option. But, I personally think its time to make a splash with landing a Duchene or Landeskog. Both are young and both are elite. Its not often that gets offered. After seeing the isles 8-10 blue chip propsects, im fine with parting with a few to land elite talent.

I happen to really like Eberle's skill.....and obviously JT knows him from Juniors. My problem with all of this is its the same Snow over and over again. To me, you see a need and you address it. What we see from Garth is a constant bargain shopper. Sometimes in life you just have to pay up and move forward.

I always say you have to give up something to get something. No matter who we trade or no matter who we get (if Snow even does anything) will be an over payment and the nerds will complain. This is how the NHL is now. I for one would love to see a blockbuster deal with multiple players for multiple players back like in the good ole days. I beleive that is what this team needs

Except the Caps, I will never consider them cup contenders.
