yes but thats why hes there and also hes not being set up by nhl caliber players. also they want him to learn the pro game, system, and be responsible defensivly which by all reports hes done much better than ho sang. if the isles keep him and dont package him in a trade he will be a good scorer at this level. the guy you set up to just shoot

Oh yeah, absolutely. He had a good rookie year. Not a monster year but also definitely not a bad one. He's adjusting and he's doing a decent job of it, by the looks of things. No rush for him, there's plenty of forwards here already.

I think the ref let them play and it was tit for tat but when the pass came in front and Mayfield held Larkins stick he had no choice.
I actually like the fact that the ref let them play. Nothing wrong with little physicality in front of the cage, imho.
But it's opinion based so everyone makes a different call there.

Your more of a wussy hockey ref

actually im more of a let them play ref as i take many penalties as a player. the dirtiest players make the best refs, which brings me to this point, why arent there more players that are refs? its easier to call the game when youve played it.

Ive actually lined jr games where when i get between the players they all of a sudden want to fight so once in a blue moon ill step back and say ok fight. then they look at me and each other do nothing and i say god what wussys to them and they feel shame

Purely speculation, but after a career of getting the crap kicked out of you and making pretty good money...I assume they don't want to leave their families and travel all year to make a, comparably, small paycheck.

good point but the refs make good money like 200k i believe and they are given a laptop, car sevrice, hotel, airfare, and money for food. its insane. a buddy of mine did double a baseball but is on the union board or whatever foe mlb and you wouldnt believe what those guys make and are given

As of 2012, NHL referees earn between $1,402 and $2,682 per game, which is around $115,000 to $255,000 annually; wages vary with skill, experience and seniority. The two other officials in the game, the linesmen, make from $70,000 to $162,000 per year.

I think players think being a ref is below them imho. Don't take offense to that just mho.
Also Chiefs point of traveling gets old and guys want more a home life with their families after their careers. I actually spoke to a couple ex players about that and thats why they didn't go the coaching route.

I think a lot of NHL Refs are players that didn't make it to the NHL. I don't know the % but it would be interesting to find out.
I agree if you played the game at a high level you definitely are a better ref.
That road show gets old to most players. They have had the rink rats chasing them all their life whether college, Jrs. etc. and after a while the shat gets old.
Although it would be nice to have given it a whirl
