Nah. Mayfield was cracken Larkin's skull the other night. All that got us was 2 minutes in the box and a PPG-against.
We need speedspeedspeeeeeeeeeeeeeed - eichiefs9
Well Mayfield got a penalty for a battle in front that Larkin kept going at with no intention on pick or anything. Was weak should have been both as Larkin was the one who kept hitting him |

Yeah, my point is really that the need for a "big, physical crease-clearing defensemen" is absolutely not what it used to be. You can't get away with 75% of what you used to, so that role has been rendered, effectively, useless. Today's game is speed and transition, simple as that. You need 6 defensemen that can skate and if you have to sacrifice size/toughness for that then so be it. |

Clutterbuck already off. Doesn't seem like a good sign. Kearns wearing No. 38. |

I will have to check with my sources but I believe that Minnesota declared "no backsies" on that trade. |

#Isles put Cizikas on IR. Prince on the ice this AM, so potentially he could come off if he's ready. |

yea I was just saying that call sucked as Larkin came up high 3 times to hit and move him and when mayfield finally hits him back they called it. I get it ive done it but sometimes I just take them both and say you know what theres a reason he did that to you

What a frank up the Nino thing was. Isles were going nowhere that season. To not put Nino with JT the entire year was just dumb beyond words. |

Weight said he'll start with Kulemin-Kearns-Gionta fourth line, may move 86 around. Called Kearns "Colonel Bracken."

Can we break up the 4/44 tandom this game please. I would really love to get through a first period without those 2 spotting the team a goal with a horrific defensive effort...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Y_O-2gaRU Honestly look at the first goal. deHaan is like a cone on the ice. skated right around him.
Then there is this beauty with 3 seconds left in the period. JT loses face off cleanly.. neither deHaan or Seidneberg tie up their guys.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfZqSSmIiyU |

Man I love Barzal.
34GP: 8G, 55A - 64pts
He's averaging almost 2pts/gm
Gotta find him a nice shoot-first winger down the line, that would be a deadly combo.
He's gonna be a beast on the PP too. |

Enough with Seidenberg playing every game. Whoever is coach next year better stop with playing the 7th dman all the time. de Haan reminds me of Nelson sometimes with playing with his head in the clouds. |

In fairness, Mayfield did shove him several times, cross-checked him twice, and roughed him a bit. Larkin, for his participation in that scuffle, slashed Mayfield 3 times in the shins, gave a little punch to the face and cross-checked Mayfield once. I thought the ref was going to take both as well. He should've. It's called "battling in front of the net" for a reason. Apparently, the only thing the rules allow in front of the net now is patty-cake. Chiefs is right about that. |

why they don't look pretty DeHaan and Seidenberg has amongst the highest + rating on team. So can just talk about 2 instances. Im fine with them as 3rd pairing.

Like it, hate it...whatever....it's the new NHL. I get the nostalgia of violent hockey but it doesn't exist anymore. |

This statement right here shows you have no understanding of how to play hawkey.
You sit him in the press box for 17 games so he can learn how to play the game and watch how it flows.
Jeez, get a clue man. |

In fairness, they are sticking to their guns in that they want him to be a center. There has been a million-and-one complaints on here from people (not implying you were one, I honestly have no idea) about the Islanders "ruining" players who were drafted as centers but are being used as wings.
They clearly want Barzal to be a center and they stuck to that, so he had a rough go of things finding a spot in the lineup. I was disappointed that we didn't get a full year of Barzal but I think in the long run it will be beneficial. |

We as Isles fans could not understand the brilliance of Cappy. He was ahead of his time. - ses111
Between sitting guys, for no apparent reason other than they had a good game the night before, talking about holding guys accountable then swapping the same 3 guys in & out of the line-up and changing the line combos so frequently their heads spun, I don't know which was the more brilliant. Of course that list goes on and on and on. |

Keep going back.. look at the last game they won 6-4 .. first goal on the PK.. DeHaan caught in the corner even though puck worked to point.. d-to-d and pass shot to guy in slot... goal. it's every game for the past 5 or 6 games.
First goal Ranger's game.. what is deHaan doing on this play? He literally stops skating completely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RkhHBoEsMw |

they were letting them battle until when the puck came across Mayfield literally grabbed Larkin's stick to stop him from making a play. It was the right call.. they could have tacked on a roughing minor for each of them too.. especially larkin's punch in the face. |
