Yes. Yes i do. And I remember thinking that nobody should ever talk to Mr. Bobby that way, EVER!!!

Mr. Bobby has some told you so's in here. The insanity in the first few pages is a fun read.

As I also said many times...Add to Hall to get it if necessary. Now we are still looking for that guy and who do we trade for it now?
- Iggysbff

You don't think this was attempted? Perhaps there were teams that just weren't interested in giving up a top pairing Dman, for Hall +++. Maybe the asking was an Oilers dman which then would have negated improving the defense in some way.

Precisely. You can get them but you basically gut your team to do it. That's why they hardly ever get traded. You only encounter an idiot like Lowe so many times in your life.

I have been and remain whole-heartedly of the opinion that depth creates playoff teams and stars create championships. Having one without the other is pointless and I don't believe either is that much easier to acquire than the other.

There are 46 pages to read through, which tells me this is something that will entertain me at work tonight.
What people don't realize is that this trade is what brought you back to HB from HSS as a regular poster again. Another intangible that the mouth breathers can't see.

Yeah, those were fun days. I spent the first 24 hours or so in disbelief that something big actually happened. After that and taking some deeper looks into Larsson's season, I settled into the group that was content with the trade and I've slowly drifted more towards being pleased with the trade.

Basically, it's like you go out with some friends one night. There's a couple of different girls you can bang. One is really hot and wears sexy clothes and make it clear she is dtf that night. The other is wearing jeans and a tshirt and gives you no indication one way or the other what she will do.

If you take home that hot girl suddenly you discover that at least a hundred other guys have chosen the same as you and you can't even finish because her mitt is worn beyond repair, and even worse she sticks around the next morning and wants to have breakfast and starts trying to hold your hand.

Now, if you take home the girl in the jeans and tshirt, suddenly you find out that under the clothes she's built like a gymnast, and basically performs pilates on you all night and leaves you with visions of God. The next morning, she grabs a cup of coffee and says "This was fun and we should do it again but don't get all (frank)ing weird. Let's play Halo and get lit later." and then leaves to go do her own thing.

We took home the laid back slam hound, and gave Jersey our high maintenance basic b!tch. High five Chiarelli.

So IMBD deleted their discussion boards, which was the only decent thing on their site... Love to urinate all over whoever came up with that plan.

We don't. Klefbom is a better bet to achieve that goal than anyone even remotely on the market. That's the point. Why would you as Montreal have traded your best Dman for Hall (regardless of addition) when you already have Pacioretty?

Nope. There wasn't even a week between when Chia said he knew it was Hall he was going to deal and the trade. And many other GM's have said they were shocked Hall was available. He didn't shop it around. He made a snap decision and it will cost us in the long run.

"unreal. i was worried pc was going to do something stupid. But what about Katz. Doesn't he make the last call. Mcdavid will ask for a trade in 2 years. "

This is my favorite so far. 60gp and the Oilers with more points than they have had in a full season since forever, McDavid leading the league in points. Guess he will be calling Katz soon about that trade and want out.

Ihateallofu was measured as well. The non-Oiler fan reactions are priceless. They spent most of the previous few years ragging about how one dimensional Hall was and how much he falls down and what a band-aid he is and suddenly he's a generational winger that could have gotten a top tier dman in return.

My thoughts were a lot more coherent in written form than I remember them being in my head.
I've been a fan of Larsson for a while. I'd be lying if I said I like the trade (because Hall), but he's been a top pairing guy for New Jersey for a year and a half, has a real solid contract, is a RHD, and is young. May make a great pairing with Klefbom. Not the ideal trade, but Larsson has more ceiling to fill out before I pass any sweeping judgement.

Doesn't seem like too much has changed, honestly

Ugh. Somebody from that old core was always on the market after they drafted McDavid. It sure isn't costing them now, and the team would have to make a huge nose dive in the coming years before it will even remotely cost them.

I like how amorphous and vague "cost us in the long run" is. It's the kind of meaningless statement that can be made that requires no immediate backup and people are likely to forget a few years down the road.

Except I wont forget.

Shero said chiarelli kicked tires on Larsson the previous summer. Nothing concrete, but his name was discussed.

He also said they spoke before the draft and then approached pc again on the floor.

That's 3 different discussions. Doesn't sound like a snap judgement to me

Not to mention the rumour that snow turned down hamonic for hall .
So that's 4.
And considering that hamonic is a quality defender, but no superstar 1 (somewhat comparable to Larsson actually in style, salary and potential) and they turned that deal down. I don't think the market for hall was nearly what we hoped it would be

And furthermore, it seems it was nonexistent for Ebs/nuge.
We know shero said neither would've been considered for Larsson
