I would really like to get on board with this plan, however losing Leon decreases our German quotient. Will you take McDavid instead? - leonkennedy
I suppose. We have Zacha so we can pretend he's German. |

This is why you should be employed somewhere in the NHL. You can at least see the big picture. Not like those near sighted, narrow minded seniors like Iggy. But I do love guys like Iggy because without them, I may not be employed. - leonkennedy

I don't completely disagree with this. Thing is the Oilers needed a guy like this to push guys who are barely 5/6 NHL dmen down from the 2nd pairing, to the 3rd pairing and eventually off the team before they could start winning more than they lose.
P.C. is just the only GM the Oilers have had with the balls to make the bold move they needed to make to rid themselves of a locker room cancer like Hall and get a solid NHL dman who is young with a good contract like Lord Larsson. - leonkennedy
I dont have a problem with Larsson. He's decent. But not worth Hall.
And I don't have an issue with trading Hall. But we couldn't give him away for a second pair Dman. If he had gone for a top pair two way guy then fine. |

He's an offensive player. Plays pp and all the tough minutes.
As was mentioned earlier in the thread offensive players handle the puck and make more turnovers. Larsson has no offende and still makes the turnovers. - Iggysbff
He has 0.70 P/60 which is tied for 96th of 174 Dmen with over 500 minutes within spitting distance of guys like Edler, Doughty, Shea Weber, Ekblad and Ristolainen.

I thought it was 3-2... Did we get a goal called back? - laughs2907
Yeah. Offside on the goal on the PP. They used up all of their breaks for the week to get the win against Chicago on Saturday. |

Holy (frank)... Flames were leading 4-1...Now it's 5-4 for the Preds. Just hope it doesn't go to OT |

I despise the offside review. Even when it works in our favor, I still hate how it slows everything down. Review should only exist for crease disputes. |

I'm watching that game now. They are getting absolutely embarrassed. |

I have a list of things I'd do to make the NHL better/more exciting. I may release them in blog form soon. |

I too was in disbelief, and pissed off all summer over the trade. Thing is, were any teams willing to give up that top pair two way guy for just Hall?
At the end of the day I think the results of the trade and how the team has performed this year speak for themselves. I also think that moving Hall has done more for the team inside the dressing room and off the ice than we know. |

No. Why? Because wingers, even ones as good as Hall, simply don't provide the same sort of value as those guys. My favorite was when people brought up the Weber-Subban deal, and then actually seemed to need it explained why it wasn't useful as a comparable. |

I shudder at the thought of giving up Draisaitl, Klefbom/Nurse and Puljujarvi for either of those guys. |

Precisely. You can get them but you basically gut your team to do it. That's why they hardly ever get traded. You only encounter an idiot like Lowe so many times in your life. |

This pisses me off. This was a game they should have won. They barely looked interested until halfway through the 2nd, and even then they still had a shot. |

Don't you remember the crap I got in here the day of the trade when I said it wasn't anywhere near as bad as people were making it out. - Mr.Bobby
Yes. Yes i do. And I remember thinking that nobody should ever talk to Mr. Bobby that way, EVER!!! |

Yeah, those were fun days. I spent the first 24 hours or so in disbelief that something big actually happened. After that and taking some deeper looks into Larsson's season, I settled into the group that was content with the trade and I've slowly drifted more towards being pleased with the trade. |

Those early period goals were the killers. Russell flubbed the exit HARD and Sekera committed to the wrong guy on the 2nd goal and Larsson got tied up with someone when defending Kucherov, but Brossoit should've been able to make that save. |

As I also said many times...Add to Hall to get it if necessary. Now we are still looking for that guy and who do we trade for it now?
