Nope. Sathers 97 and 98 team both made it to the second round. After that it was miss or lose to Dallas in the first.

I can't describe how much I hated Modano and Hitchcock in those days.

You just knew he was gonna take us to the cleaners after that cup run.

That's the kind of situation when you need to leave loyalty and appreciation after the fact out of it. Everything should be based what WILL you do for us going forward.
Can't be easy though

No way they could have known he would end up with U.C., and his career effectively being ended because of it, but yikes did they ever overpay simply because of a good and lucky playoffs.

Modanos one of my all time favs. Such a brilliant player. One of, if not the, best skater I've ever seen

He gave Horcoff one of the most horrific contracts ever based on a good half a season.

I loved those last few Sather teams. They had it all except a second line. Weight-Smyth-Guerin was a great trio, and Marchant-Grier-Moreau was the best 3rd line in hockey ( Draper-Holmstrom-Maltby can lick my ballsack), always great goaltending from Cujo, and later Salo...always had a great defence with Mironov,Hamrlik, Ninnimaa and later Smith...hard working, tough...big...the only problem was the 2nd lines anchored by Beranek, Murray, Titov...etc...

Wonderful player, but I hated him deeply back then. Hull too. Belfour. I just got so tired of them owning us every year. Dallas even said they hated playing the Oilers in the first round because even though they werent as good as Dallas and would lose, they still scrapped until the end and Dallas was usually exhausted by the next round.

Even the 4 game sweep was a (frank)ing war. Loved that hockey. Came down to one goal every god damned time.

Oh for sure. But he was still not worth that deal even healthy.

I mean I get the thinking, and maybe even more so in a market like edm where you're desperate for bodies who actually wanna play there.
But it's a tough way to do business

Totally unrelated scenarios for the most part, but u look at bill belichek.
Absolutely ruthless dictator. He'll cut anyone any time and never overpays.
U wanna win- you take what I give you and stay here. Or ur gone. Doesn't care about your playoff game winning catch 3 weeks earlier .
Was listening to an interview with Brady post sb. he wants to play for another 5 +years but was super apprehensive to say if he'll still be in foxboro right till the end for sure cause he knows how Bill works

The Patriots are practically a cult. They really don't give a (frank) who they have to cut or trade, because they can always mold new players to fit their system. An absolutely ruthless winning machine. I personally think if Brady wins another, he'll call it a day. He's already the goat, but a 6th ring would silence even the most stubborn haters.

Yep

AND it's funny to still hear a few smatterings of joe Montana or even the odd Peyton.
Obviously those naysayers are far fewer and further between than they used to be, but I still find it ludicrous that anyone could say Brady isn't the goat. What him and bill have done is unreal

They're the 80s Oilers, doing things that won't be matched for a very long time, if ever.

Don't feel like listening, but I know that sometime in his 20s he said he was feeling banged up, sore and old, and the team and NFL doctors kept trying the same things. He then started going to another doctor that had a far more eastern approach to health and conditioning and completely changed up his diet. Less weight and resistance training, more focus on movement and flexibility. The results seem pretty clear.

He needs to update it though.

Yeah it's long. And abit dry

But u pretty much hit the nail on the head for the 2nd part of the interview. He feels better than he ever has. He almost sounds like a cultist for his diet and regime. Amd how all NFL players need to switch
