Lol, well, yeah, 5 minutes after that,BT came on to say that he had been having discussions with Arizona since the summer...

I am fairly sure they aren't done yet, but what will be interesting to see is what the costs end up being over the next week or so. Can they move Wideman out? Will they bring in a legit top 6 winger? Is it just bit parts that they acquire (depth moves)?

IMO, I think we see another depth move or two with no major splash before the deadline, Flames walk away with most of their NHL roster intact and there are no takers for Wideman.

Moves I would like to see made (fantasyland) before March 1

Wideman, a protected 1st (17 or 18) and Klimchuk/Shinkaruk to the Flyers for Simmonds (and yeah, maybe something or a couple of somethings extra)

I doubt Simmonds is for sale. If he was I'd think he'd be able to fetch more than even Landeskog (at least I'd probably pay more).


Also just noticed that the Flames made a spelling mistake when the tried to send Bouma to Stockton. They accidentally spelled his name Hathaway.

I'll be happy if he can give us 12 minutes a night with no big turnovers . Don't want him in the top 4 if we can help it.

Hard to get over how much affordable playoff depth we have to offer..

Even before salary retention, those are friendly numbers for GMs. 1 mill cap hit for the top three? Pitts and Boston are in need of playoff depth pretty bad.. Hell, even Chicago could handle .250 mill for Versteeg.

Agreed, he is very likely not on the market, but if you are Philly and sense a re-tooling on the horizon, he would be a starting point that would get you a ton of value. And if he does hit the market, it probably causes the Avs to rethink their (so far) ludicrous demands.

Probably just a paper move & he hasn't even stepped on the plane, probably playing Xbox back in Calgary until the next trade goes down.

I think it is a good trade, and worth a try.

Stone just recently came off knee surgery and hasn't looked the same since.

I personally think the talent is there to succeed. Plus, he'll look a lot better playing with TJ Brodie.

If all else fails, I still think he's better than Wideman.

That should clean up all the players left from 2011-13 drafts that they'd want. I don't know who you guys will trade to Vancouver to get Baert and Granlund though...

Last year's draft is looking like a steal for us. Tkachuk being an obvious steal, button just released a list of the best players not playing in the NHL yet with parsons ranked 12th overall (2nd best goalie, one spot down from samsonov). Fox is 3rd in all ncaa scoring for dmen. He's 2 points back from tying the leader, but has played six games less.

wow I really didn't think we'd see the day Wideman was out
The fact that he's been playing mostly in the top 4 and not the bottom pairing has made me believe either the coach is blind and really likes Wideman or he was being forced to play him more by the GM to increase his tradeability

I was sure that acquiring Stone just mean that Kulak, Joki would never see another game. I assumed that Stone and Bart would battle for that "6th spot"
I mean Wideman was continuously played on the 2nd pairing ALL YEAR even when it made no sense and was plain to EVERYONE that he was dragging poor Brodie to the bottom of the ocean!!!!!!!!
