Presumably the "ask" for Tatar or Vanek would be much lower than Duchene.....correct?
Are we talking one of Schmaltz/Hino/Forsling and a pick, maybe a servicable low line vet? (Desi) - phantasmo
For Vanek? No way.
Tatar...maybe if there is a plan to keep him long term. |

Schmaltz is the only of the 3 I can see having problems in the playoffs. Toews is a bull and Panik likes himself a bit of the old ultra-violence. - kinigitt
I def agree with you. I just mean it as a line with Toews is a line you really expect to produce. you never know what you are going to get from Panik.
my only point was if the hawks like that line heading into the playoffs, vanek could be a good addition to the bottom six with hossa and kruger. just adds more depth and potential scoring.
vanek or tatar, and eaves would be good additions IMO as long as what the hawks have to give up isn't anything massive. |

To Chicago Blackhawks = Martin Hanzal and Luke Schenn

Agreed. Would hope that this would be a good opportunity to snatch a good piece for beyond this season |

For Vanek I can see the price being considerably lower. For Tatar I still have a hard time grasping why Detroit would want to trade him. If they're going to rebuild then it makes no sense to trade one of their best young guys. I can't imagine the asking price being that much cheaper than it is for Duchene. |

you are not giving up both shcmaltz and forsling for tatar. They are both NHL players cost controlled and EXP draft exempt. |

One would think it would be lower to a noticeable degree as Duchene is likely one to make a more notable impact. I.e., Hartman is probably off the table. |

PHI says Radko Gudas has absolutely NOT been traded. Reports were he left practice with his sticks, fueling speculation. |

All depends on what you're giving up.
Vanek: will not put this team over the top so giving up a lot for this rental who will not sign long term will be a mistake. Giving up little for him is still a meh move IMO.
Tatar: would be a better solution and would fit nicely with the core especially if he can sign long term. Therefore giving up something for a quality player makes sense.
Hanzal: If Stanbo can obtain him and Tatar that would really add to the depth and make the team a strong cup contender.
like I said......depends what you give up?

It won't be much. You should pay a lot less for Vanek. He is a UFA after this season. Tatar is an RFA. That is a significant difference. It also depends on whether or not Detroit retains any salary. If they do not retain any salary than a 3rd round pick and McNeil (or similar AHL'er) and a conditional pick if you sign Vanek to a new contract. For Tatar maybe a 2nd round pick, McNeil and a conditional pick if you sign him to a new contract. They could have a condition that the pick increases in value or there is an additional conditional pick depending on how far the Hawks go in the playoffs. More than that an you are overpaying.

I like Pokka and McNeill for Schenn, and would do that in a minute.
DeBrincat is too intriguing to trade. Maybe one of our other "junior" prospects (or two) will get Hanzal. (Knott plus ?) |

It is really tough to say if Vanek would be enough or not. Last year Ladd/Wiese/Flash were supposed to be the answer and the Hawks still stumbled. Vanek is the Red Wings second highest scoring player (with missing time due to injury) and while he hasn't been the best playoff performer, a lot would come down to how he fits into the Hawks system. I.e. LIke Wiese for example. He was great in Montreal and was a great fit, but he has stunk everywhere else.
Tatr is nice player but then he isn't really a rental and the price is likely different.
I agree with you though, it would be nice to see the Hawks add a W and a C if they can do so without giving up many current roster players. |

I would not want to do that. Hanzal is a UFA. Debrincat could be a really good player for years to come and is cost controlled for 3 yrs (very important for AZ) and then an RFA. I think the Yotes would be happy to trade Hanzal for Debrincat straight up.
Would you trade Pokka for Luke Schenn. Meh |

What if it took Forsling to get Tatar, would you do it? Something like Forsling, mcneill, and a conditional 3rd for Tatar? |

It depends on how long Stan and keep Tatar for and what other moves would need to be made to accommodate Tatar's new contract.
But on the surface, I would do that deal. Also, what is the condition for the 3rd round pick? |

Thanks for the Duchene update JJ.....always figured it was a long shot but now......all I care is that he gets dealt to the Eastern Conference. |

I don't know just spitballing, was really more interested in if peeps would give up forsling for tatar. Cause you know that Detroit is looking for Dmen, and my bet is that forsling is who they would want. |

If the Hawks can keep Tatar around for a few years then this deal is a no-brainer. |
