Long time follower on the board but never a poster, so here goes. First and foremost, I feel fortunate that we have such an excellent blogger in Carol who daily gives us all something to think about and comment on. Second, I'm a decades long Canucks fan.....freaked out when Druken put us back in the playoffs.......Greg Adams! Greg Adams! I made the painful trek to Boston for a humiliating Game 6 and ventured back to Vancouver to sit in pain at the rink for Game 7 and left the rink with my buddy with 8 minutes left in the third and was one of the lucky ones to catch a skytrain out of dodge before the riots began. I have bled the Halloween colors and now the blue and green. I over value our players like many fans do. The word tank isn't in my vocabulary, but seeing an honest effort turn into a lottery pick doesn't hurt my feelings. Winning is the best culture and frank the Oilers or Leafs model. Lottery odds be damped, if it's meant to be, it will be. I'm a JB guy but not a WD guy. I loved Sedinery and will have a tear in my eye when 22 and 33 go to the rafters, but I don't like the Father Time model and know it's going to be tough sledding watching them be the shells of who they were for the next season and a quarter. The new culture won't take over until they are gone and we all have to hope that Bo and the next generation take from them what their legs can't do anymore and carry this franchise proudly for the next generation. I think Burrows and Hansen have played their last games in Canucks colors after Saturdays upcoming game. Miller will be re-signed for 4.5 mil for one year, like it or not. Boeser I hope provides hope that there WILL be Canucks prospects on the way that know what the back of the net is. I proudly have worn my 53 Jersey since the beginning of last year and expect to add a C to it in 2018. Sorry for the long post, but there's a sense of what I feel and look forward to the occasional convo with the regular posters here. Team tank, team glass half full, we all want the same thing. Figuring out how to get there is more than half the fun for those that follow along.

Ya they really are!
- LeftCoaster

You are foolish.

They are spoon fed all the quality starts and PP. This team is so built around doing it the old Sedin way that it is predictable and easy to stop.

Now that Bo and some of the younger guys are getting chances things are changing.

Next year will be a horrible year but it will give us our top pick then you will see change the following year.

I hope hes in utica next season and then we can find out. As mentioned by someone else he has nothing to prove in the ncaa next season especially if lots of sr's leave as they wont have a shot at the frozen four.

If you watch him play hes similar to a kessler or hansen type in that he doesnt stop or give up and has decent wheels. I think he has legit 3rd line potential.

Ya from what ive read hes on the PK and PP so for a 5th rounder that works for me. I dont think that saying he could be a legit 3rd liner is crazy. Either way we are finally starting to get some prospect depth. Now we just need some high end prospects over the next few years and we will be right back in it. Sounds like next years draft is a good one with lots of dmen and wingers in the top 10, so hopefully we can land one of the top centers this year.

I'm about to lose interest because I'm tired of them (ownership & management) not building the way I'd like to see them build. They can't continue like this, not building through the draft, and continually try for the last playoff spot.

We'll see what happens this spring. I've been a fan for 40 years, and will continue to be, but occasionally I've become disinterested throughout their history because of poor management

You'd feel that way with most/all teams in transition then. If you were a fan of the team's currently/recently rebuilding after teardowns, then you sat through decades of being irrelevant before it happened. No finals in recent decades, no president trophies, no scoring titles and Hart trophies... just a way more garbage product being shoved down your throat... and for a life time if you are a Leafs fan no older than his 30's for example. Funny how that works.

If our prospect pool is not maturing as projected or helping enough when the Sedins retire, you will see a teardown, I'm sure. Our oldest players(Eriksson/Sutter) will have their NTC open up after the Sedins. Edler will be gone as well... our players in their mid 20's will probably be shopped as well. You can't do it handcuffed.

This is why I preach patience Lefty. This team was set up for a teardown at the end of 17/18 season long ago unfortunately. The only way it doesn't is if the Sedins request trades and they find a new home or they retire. I see you acknowledge this often.... and immediately go back to criticizing the Management for treading water in the shadow of the Sedin contracts.

I know... 2nd round picks being traded in the past... but that is hardly the reason we are in this position. The free agents haven't hurt us in the rebuilding. I know people will nit pick that but anything and everything can be nit picked.

All teams r in the hunt for top 2C picks every draft.
We also need LW scoring.
Never can have enough top D prospects if its BPA.

Jim Benning's first year I was really excited, because of Ryan Kesler wanting out, and trading Garrison, he acquired two first, second and third round picks. I thought that was the beginning of the man who wanted to build through the draft. I was wrong...sadly.

Of those picks we only have Jake Virtanen, who's in the American Hockey League and struggling, Thatcher Demko, Nikita Tryamkin and Derek Dorsett. Which isn't the worst, I guess, but it could've been the start of a really good foundation built through the draft.

- LeftCoaster

You didn't think it through too well then. How do you start rebuilding through the draft handcuffed to all those contracts in the summer of 2015? It was contradictory to that idea when Benning signed the top two free agents to short term stop gap contracts inside the Sedin time frame. They were just buying time by trying to stay competitive short term.

He set out to inject youth into the roster and he has definitely done that. More high picks are coming. We are still developing a handful of good 1st rounders out of the NHL. So, yes we are treading water at the moment... but there are positive additions to our future going on at the same time. That's going to pay off if we play Logans Run and off the rest of our old players in a year or two.

And I could list a few of my own which is probably why I haven't in the past. But end of the day, at rhe start of a bye week before the deadline, figured there was no time like the present. These are dark days for the franchise, but I've seen darker. Prospects that are at least worth talking about and a few trade chips that need to be cashed in this time around. More bullets JB has in his chamber the better, imo

You have arrived just in time for the TDL meltdown of 2017. It's going to be a bloodbath in here
