Rookie scoring race...with a little draft luck last year, three of those kids could've been Canucks

Patrik Laine, RW - 18 yrs old
Auston Matthews, C - 19 yrs old
Mitch Marner, C - 19 yrs old
William Nylander, RW - 20 yrs old
Matthew Tkachuk, LW - 18 years old

....who gives at rats ass, they're just teenagers, they'll be in the playoffs in due time. I swear to God you're such a meathead lol.
- LeftCoaster

Me ? You are the one drooling over other Sh1t teams buddy.

You are crying over JV not making the Canucks and don't realize another player from the same draft is making an impact in D.
His name is Tryamkin. Drafted by Benning in his first year. Wake up meathead not every player drafted makes the NHL in their first year. Sorry JV has you so pissed.

I know! Sort of.
I think Gaudette should be in Utica next season. Probably has a year or 2 of learning in the AHL. Burning a year of Boesers ELC to show Boeser what the NHL game is like so he can train harder in the summer.

Kyle Connor was at 2 ppg in the NCAA last season. 4 points in 19 games before he was sent down. Struggled early and is now 18 points in 30 in the AHL.

Utica will be very young next season. Not a recipe for success in the AHL.

BB can slide so no year is burned this season.

Was reading back to the predraft rankings. Button had Boeser 9th, while some didnt have him in the top 30, general consensus was between 22-26 though which proves my point on muddled. Everyone usually knows within a few spots where the first 10 go, but the odds get tougher to predict beyond that
- WhiteLie

We should figure out a simple friendly 1st round draft pool on here. No need to manage it. The draft position is the score or something like that. Put up your 1-31 the day before or something....

?? Cassels had a decent overage season but it's not close to what Gaudette is doing in his sophomore season. I always said Cassels was a bust. Anybody that watched the kid play in junior would know this. His skating is and has always been brutal.
- CanuckDon

The exact same thing was said of Gaudette all last season.
There's no sure fire bet that any of these kids find success in the NHL.

I would also note that Gaudette is being flanked by two other guys who are in the top 5 in NCAA scoring.

I would wager that there's a higher probability that this former 5th round pick turns more so into a Cassels then a future NHL "2nd line Center".

I don't think cassels is a bust. I think he will be a 4th liner at best. He seems to be a slow starter. He is doing better then last season. It took him 3 years to break out in the CHL. Gaudette definitely has more upside but probably not much more then a 3rd line Center.

Assuming those 5 players peak on their expectations and hit the team in the next 2-3 years, we are still a bottom 5 team.

Bottom 5 if those 5 peak? Gimme a break 😂

Game winning goal today

He probably has as many healthy scratches as he does goals.

He will never play for the Canucks.

They tell me most parents give their kids participation ribbons these days, perhaps Jim Benning should get one for himself and give the Canucks each one.

Yes I agree, it's the best it's been in years, however, there's a lot of room for improvements.
- LeftCoaster

can always be better!

One positive is that we're actually hitting on later picks beyond the first round.

Thats a harsh assessment when he has had less talent to work with.
We won't know til holes r filled if he is still around.
I'm not a WD fan yet just being honest. He prolly doesn't get a real honest shot at being a coach here when we do ice a much better roster.

- Nighthawk

This is what I've been saying as well.

By the time we have a solid team... Willy will be gone anyways. Our young players get ample ice time if they are ready and WD's bad habits on late deployment etc are not what I consider damaging to player development. It is what it is... until it's something else.
