Last year they said they wouldn't move him for Mathews....
I get what you're saying,
but it doesn't seem like they're willing to move him for anything

- jdfitz77

Of course they're going to say that. But if they were offered Matthews there's no way they could say no

You think Nylander will need another year down there?
I'm leaning that way.

It's tough to tell, Imo the ahl is the hardest league to stand out in because it's filled 90% with fringe nhl players that are playing a simple no risk type of game and dont give an inch. If he's not on the team out of training camp I'd think he'd be the top call up. The past few drafts have messed with many fans heads it's not a bad thing for a 1st rounder to spend more than a year in development

I agree on the defense
Pisses me off that Murray chose Cornel & Karabacek in the 2nd a couple years ago instead of McKeown & Dougherty (Montour was available also)
Sure would be nice to have some defensive prospect depth right now
At the time we had McCabe zads, pysyk and risto so I have no issues with those picks
GMTM said it best a few years ago.. you draft a forward in the 1st round then you have a hole in the d prospects.. you draft a D the next year and then have a Hole at forward

I think Baptiste will be an NHLer
His skating will keep him up here. And if he can score in the NHL, then he can be a top9 guy for us. Agreed

Was hoping Catenacci (SUCKS lol) would develop into a decent 4th liner for us
Another guy that can skate, & I like how he can be a pest
I never thought he'd be a scorer for us bc of his size though

Forgot to add we're like -21 in goal differential.

How are we since Eichel's return though?
I bet we're close to even, if not above
I know our scoring per game is much better
We are top10 with him in the lineup

how can you say that about those three?...o'reilly's rock solid as a two-way center, lead the team in scoring last year and will probably be their captain...lehner has played extremely well in his first full season as the No. 1 goalie...and kane, after fits and starts to his career in buffalo is now on the hottest players in the league and will has scored 20 or more goals in both his seasons in buffalo

He's only 24 they would get a lot from but it would be pretty stupid to trade him
Unless they get Sam Reinhart

- GERBE!!!75PTS

I'd start with Nylander, two firsts, substitute McCabe if necessary

I hope McCabe's in the topfour for years to come...and...he's signed for two more seasons at $1.6m per...that's a deal, imo

I'd trade Reinhart and a 1st for OEL at this point. I like Reinhart and he seems like a homer but you have to give to get and to me, OEL is more valuable on this team that Reinhart. Arizona would be salivating at a Reinhart/Domi?Duclair line and I highly doubt they'd send those two and OEL or Chycrun to us. That would be ridiculous.

2020 - Stanley Cup Finals - Buffalo Sabres vs. Edmonton Oilers!

- Irish 14

You mean when we sweep them en route to our 3rd consecutive cup?

Also, I hate to say it, but the Sabres will have to beat out Toronto as the beasts in the East...

We should not trade McCabe. He's going to anchor the 2nd pair for the next 5+ years.

Theyre all good players...but add up the assets GMTM gave up to get them and tell me you wouldnt spend them a bit differently.

Now its one thing when you have assets to spare , but right now the well is dry.

I totally disagree with the thought that we'd have had a hole as far as forward prospects if we'd have chose 2 defensemen instead of Cornel & Karabacek

The year before, we had taken Compher, Hurley, Bailey & Baptiste
And we had just taken Reinhart & Lemieux in that draft
And we still had Grigorenko at that point, as well as Girgs
That's 7 forwards picked in the first 2 rounds of the current & previous 2 drafts

Not that all those guys were gonna work out,
and I'm sure Murray wasn't a fan of some of them...
but it was still a HUGE mistake imo to reach for Cornel & REALLY reach for Karabacek when our defensive prospects were low (just McNabb & Pysyk)

He absolutely blew those picks

I honestly thought Myers was worth both Bogo and Kane at the time. Sweeten the pot afterward but no way I'm giving up an additional 2 prospects and a pick.

But Myers hasn't exactly panned out for Winnipeg. Dude's made of glass.

He's the Ming Yao of the NHL.

I'm just saying...
they basically said he was untouchable

Maybe this crappy year + Chychrun playing well can change their mind if they get a good enough offer
But it'll likely take A LOT to get OEL

I'd certainly call to see though

I saw Nugent Hopkins out muscle him his last year in Buffalo. What does that tell you? Still...his value was higher than that.

I remember that... And I think it was the exact moment I was done with him. RNH is a decent player but he has the body of a 14 year old boy eternally.

All fair points... and i never said that Cornel & Karabacek were good picks just saying i can see the reasoning behind why he drafted them over a D.
I'm also bias on looking back at old drafts and saying we shouldve taken player x over player Y. Drives me insane to say something after years go by. Unless youre in the top 15ish..a lot of thing falls on the teams they development on and luck.

Cornel & Karabacek
- yen6d1

Right click Karabacek's name and tell me what your auto-correct tells you... That alone makes me hate him.

But they both have punch-able faces. Not as bad ad Carrier. He might have the most punch-able face I have ever seen. But Cornel's face can get punched the F out.
