Kane to Yotes just doesn't make sense......

Only D prospects in system with any Nhl potential are guhle, borgen, fitz
Catenacci is done.. guy has the effort but production is nothing.
Baptiste is interesting idk maybe be a kunitz type player with the right center but seems like a stretch

Pisses me off that Murray chose Cornel & Karabacek in the 2nd a couple years ago instead of McKeown & Dougherty (Montour was available also)
Sure would be nice to have some defensive prospect depth right now

His skating will keep him up here. And if he can score in the NHL, then he can be a top9 guy for us

Talbots been our second best player all season. He still faces a rediculous number of shots and posts decent numbers. He gives the Oilers a chance to win most every night and has stolen more games that cost us. The haters said he would suck behind the Oilers D compared to the Rangers and yet hasnt. I think this is a case of an unknown without a sexy name being under rated by the less informed such as yourself.

Yeah but he had a horrific first quarter to the season. There was a point early on where Nillson almost stole the starting job. Thats bad. But he has been great ever since.

Playoffs? Thats not very realistic...in fact, its borderline delusional.its easy to look at the standings and say youre only 3 points back of the last wildcard spot...but you fail to realize the Sabres have played 2 extra games. Its more realistic that tampa Bay, while being 4 points behind , have a better shot because they have equal games played withToronto.
Even more realistic ( and likely) is a last placed finish in the East. Carolina is 6 points back but they have played a ridiculous 5 games less.
Also, this "progress" you speak of is skewed. You can sugar coat it all you want with all those loser points, but your team has 26 wins and 34 losses. Thats a long freaking way from .500 champ.
Having said all that your team is on the right track. You only need about 3-4 key players to round out the roster, and whatever time is needed to develop those players and you'll be in a better spot in the standings. It would be nice to have some of that high end ' Murrency' now , but you should have at least one if not 2 drafts where you pick early so taht helps.

Still young defenseman don't usually develop until age 25 and he hasn't even hit his peak yet

Exactly 7....from 2010 draft to this season, and that includes McDavid. Keep in mind we are not there yet. We still need a top pair D as we only truly have Klefbom.

Now I dont think it will take your team 7 years from the Reinhart draft to get solid playoff footing but at least 5 full seasons. Should be 4 if TM didnt (frank) up and take Draisaitl, and would no doubt be three had you won the lottery and landed McDavid.

Now luck dictates so much its hard to fault or praise a GM for it, but youre now at a point with so few expendable assets that GMTM needs to be much much smarter if he wants to enter the trade market. He blew an awful lot of 'Murrency' on O-Rielly, Kane and Lehner to mixed results. He needs to bat 1000 going forward.

how can you say that about those three?...o'reilly's rock solid as a two-way center, lead the team in scoring last year and will probably be their captain...lehner has played extremely well in his first full season as the No. 1 goalie...and kane, after fits and starts to his career in buffalo is now on the hottest players in the league and has scored 20 or more goals in both his seasons in buffalo
