I think hartman is untradable at this point. We don't have a lot of physical players and he's relatively cheap. I like Hinostroza speed and Schmaltz isn't bad has played better since coming back up. Do whatever you can to trade krugers contract now and I would give Schmaltz in the trade talks to sweeten the deal with kruger. And unfortunately we'd probably lose forsling to but I'd prefer Kempny.
So if it was forsling kruger and Schmaltz with a 2nd in 18 for Duchesne and zardov or beauchim with money retained id do it. Throw motte into if the avs want him to play with compher. And get rid of desi for brett gallant or someone tough for the ahl or a couple games in the show at the end of the year. - vandymeer23
Or Stan could actually mean what he said this time, nothing would surprise me. |

Steve Ott would be a perfect jolt to our bottom 6. Love Tootoo's compete level but OTT is a problem for opposing teams. - nickmo2699
I like Ott but he isn't going to keep anyone honest he isn't a enforcer and he's a horrible fighter. But he is a good face off man and poop stirrer. Him and Latta on the 4th line would be better them kruger and desi especially when considering salary. |

Yep! TVR makes some nice plays in his own right and has different strengths when compared to Campbell. TVR is better than a lot of the other guys to suit up for the Hawks on D over the last few years.
Rozsival, Scuderi, Timmonen, Svedberg, Gustafsson, Rundblad, Hendry, Boyton, Brookband, Cullimore, O'Donnell, Campoli, Kostka, Lepisto, Ehrhoff, Olsen, Erixon, Cumiskey.
I'd take TVR over what any of these guys brought to the lineup and TVR makes 825k, which ain't bad. - breadbag
Brookbank was a solid bottom pair he and tvr play different styles though |

Debrinkat listed at 5'7", 165 lbs, and he's still growing. Size/build remind me of Stan Jonathan, who played at 5'8", 175 lbs, who nobody pushed around. - BMWChiFan
Stan Jonathan was one of the toughest guys around though I don't think debricant fights but I have seen him spear people before which is cheap. Being that small it's nice to have a little edge more like Theo fleury then Jonathan |

Of all the names floating around their Palat is the one that intrigues me the most when you factor in the potential of keeping him around for the long term. But for me that's a major factor - how long an acquisition sticks around.
For me guys like Hartman, Schmaltz and Forsling are 100% off the table for a short-term rental. This team needs some cost controlled quality depth for the next 2 - 3 seasons.
If Stan can find a way to keep Palat for a few years at a decent price (he's a pending RFA) then I could part with a quality asset. However, with minimal expected cap growth I don't think this is realistic. Consider that even if Panarin misses his bonuses Kruger will have to go (one way or another) to make room for #72's new contract (also factoring in losing the other $$ in dead cap space). How would another $4 million (if Palat signed for that) fit in? Not to mention increased (albeit not large) are required to keep Panik, Kero, and Rasmussen. Stan could trade Crawford, but will be save $4+ million after he signs Darling (assuming he does) and a back-up? If not the extra money needs to come by moving another piece of the core. Typically Stan doesn't make that many moves and shuffle that many players unless he absolutely has to. For this reason I think getting anything beyond a mid-level rental is highly unlikely. But I will acknowledge that Stan could surprise me an pull off a blockbuster or two. - DarthKane
With thinking about next year and who will go I wonder if Anisimov would ever be dealt for the right trade and obviously assuming his 2nd line center role could be filled. He does have a salary in the $4 mill range so there could be some savings there for the right player. If you got rid of Kruger and Anisimov then you would have the problem of filling not one but two Center spots on the 2nd and 3rd lines..... Would create like $8 Million in cap space though. Isn't Duchene a Center?? |

Kruger, Hartman, Forsling, DeBrincat, 2018 1st ->
Duchene (50% retained) +
What would also have to be included in the "+" aspect of it to be fair
And do you mortgage that much of the future for 4 cups in 8? |

The Hawks aren't going to ever do that trade, there is no + on the Avs that they'd be willing to give up/the Hawks would want to make it more balanced (Zadorov/Rantanen aren't available after all), and the Avs wouldn't retain $3m for two more seasons to help a divisional rival.
Also, changing a team so dynamically like this suggestion at the TDL doesn't usually work out. |

That might not be enough from Chicago. Add Schmaltz and Fortin without Colorado retaining 50% and the Avs may bite. |

Seriously. Just trade the whole bottom 6 and anyone worth a poop at Rockford while you're at it for Duchene. |

Thanks for the update JR!! Got to appreciate what McDavid said about him the other night. No reason to hype him (unless he's supplementing his rookie contract by doubling as his agent), so I'm going to take the kid's words at face value. In the long run it doesn't mean he'll be a star or even a serviceable NHL player but my guess is Stan's not going to include him in any trade in the near future. - ILGolfer
Do you have a link? I didn't hear what he said. |

And the Breadman is currently tied for 12th among forwards with 53 points, 2 behind #10 Phil Kessel. - ILGolfer
I just hope he stays there. Maybe Q can rest him for a few days going into the playoffs if they're a lock for the 2 seed? |

Just curious
Where would you guys rank Crawford?
1. Price
2. Henrik
3. Crawford
4. Schneider
5. Biship (If healthy and on his game)
Thats how I see it. Dubnyk, Rinne, Bobrovsky are so different year to year.
Hotlby and Martin Jones are also guys I really like. my 4-7 is close with those two being the other two and honestly could just depend on when you ask me haha - kevndevries
I'd put Holtby and Bobrovsky on that list and both right around or slightly above CC. Bishop is nothing special IMO. A big blocker. Also not sure The King is still in the top 5. |

When we propose deals we need to think about win win.
From what I read on this board.... not so much - Colbyboy
You are overlooking the number one corollary of trade deadline deals: there is no "win-win." Unless the buying team gets very lucky and reups the player they have (like LA with Jeff Carter a few years ago).
Buyers are trying to optimize playoff rosters, sellers are looking to add futures to rebuild with. And it's a sellers market so it almost always appears to be an "overpay."
As is the case every year, the debate on this board is the unclear "future" of prospects or rookies versus the perceived need for veteran upgrades for a long playoff run/Cup.
Bowman has gone out at the deadlines and gotten Oduya, Campoli, Handzus, Vermette and ladd (and a few other lesser deals.
In virtually no instance has anyone really had a legitimate after-the-fact beef about what was given up—and Handzus and Vermette WERE significant contributors to two Stanley Cups.
Hawk fans DO tend to overvalue their prospects (putting it mildly), and history tends to bear that out year after year. |
