I think he's gone after this year. His contract is up we can replace him with a kid.

And for all the Matt Read haters that chart must bring tears.

- dragonoffrost

seriously I am hoping because Laughton and Leier both would need to clear waivers, they are both on the team and they move on from some of the bottom 6.

It is truly amazing.

It is like Anchorman

- YuenglingJagr[2]...just tell people what they want to hear, don't worry about reporting the facts.

People want to read about trading Giroux and all the terrible trouble Ghost is having. They don't want to hear that there is no way his shooting percentage is this unsustainable

edit: when I say people I mean Eagles fans

It's a hot take society. Don't give me facts. Give me the outlier opinion that helps shape the narrative.

Game Observations:

-Couturier line looks to be going. Couturier looks to be skating a lot better. Shame they don't have Konecny on the other wing as his skills were another nice compliment.

- Gostisbehere looks to be getting back.

- Still need more from Giroux. Nice win and can't you really point to him doing anything that really impacted the team.

- Vancouver is Vancouver so not sure what to really take from the game.

- Thank god we have Provorov. Such a joy to watch. Seems to do everything effortlessly.

- Curious to see what happens with goalies. 3 games until the deadline. Are they rying to showcase Neuvirth or are they just riding his play, other then the Edmonton game.

- Cousins...For as much as I am not sure what he is, he still seems to create chances every game no matter who he is with. Maybe he could be a 3/4th line center if you make sure he has bigger/faster wings.

- J35Bacher

There was one shift where he rushed the puck ( i believe in the 3rd period) and got it behind the opposing net, then is able to get back and take the body in his own end and allow his partner to take the puck. What he can do in both ends is amazing.... He is just showing a flash of what he is gonna be as well.. Crazy good.

The puck he put off the post was pretty impressive. (Almost) Creating a goal out of nothing is a skill this team lacks.

When Weal/Konecny return, I'd like to see them try Raffl-Cousins-Weise.

- Feanor

I think if you were able to surround Cousins with better wingers I think it could work. His defensive game seems improved. Speed will never be his forte. If Lindholm is as good as advertised maybe he could be a solid winger with Cousins. Add Leier or Laughton to the other side?

I just think Cousins has played himself into a future here as a possible role player. Maybe he can center a 4th line that can score some goals.

Okay so here is this for a topic of discussion...

Do you observe Weal's stint in the NHL as him having the ability to play in the NHL? Should the Flyers and can the Flyers form a forward group with both him and Konecny?

from what I read the Flyers have Laughton back playing center and Lehigh Valley and they want him working on the role of a 3rd line center so that, to me, indicates he is being groomed for that role with the Flyers. don't think he will be moving to the wing.

I don't think it can be answered right now.

A lot depends on what happens at the deadline(is anyone acquired or moved out) and what happens with guys like Leier, Laughton, Lindholm and some of the others in Lehigh Valley.

The thing about Weal as it seems like he has to be a top 6 guy to really use his skills. I am not sure what he would be as a checking line type or bottom 6 guy since I am not sure he kills penalties so he role might be limited.

They could also lose Laughton to Vegas if they protect Raffl and Cousins.

I get that.

That's why I also stated maybe Cousins can center a 4th line that can chip in offense.

I am starting to wonder if Raffl is protected.

If the future is the plan maybe it's better to still hold onto Laughton and Cousins.

I think if Read is claimed by Vegas, his spot will be up for grabs between Leier and Weal. Im not writing off the other guys who will be fighting for a roster spot, but to specifically fill Read's current role, i think one of Weal and Leier are best suited (internally).

The way Giroux is playing, maybe Cousins should get a shot between Schenn and Simmonds?

He'll be 23 in a few months. Most forwards hit their prime at 23. If he hasn't been able to put things together to this point, I wouldn't be all that confident he can be much of anything. I certainly don't have any confidence in him being an average 3C.

When the Flyers drafted him, he was touted as a two-way center, but he's actually more of an offensive winger. They should try him out in a more offensive role. He has a good shot and the Flyers could use a shooter.

Leier and Laughton should really be up with the Flyers getting everyday minutes to see if they're going to be able to contribute anything long-term.

That's definitely possible. Flyers management have an opinion of Laughton's worth based on watching every second of his play for the Phantoms, and we can only guess at what it is until they make a public move like promoting him or protecting him.

For what Raffl has produced this year, some of which was spent on the top line, I am not sure I would want to lose a young player by protecting him. On the flip side I would bet Vegas claims him if he is unprotected

My issue is the way Raffl has played this year he's a dime a dozen NHL player. Free agency will be full of guys like him.

at this point I have no idea if he will make it or not but that isn't my point. simply stating it has been said the Flyers have him focusing on the 3rd line center role at LV with the intent of that being his role at the NHL level.
