I'd say if they had 1.9 ES GA per game they'd have more points and this discussion wouldn't be happening...

I don't understand. Goals against mean more than goals for?

So the beats managed to report the following from practice:

Gudas left with his sticks

Jake tipped a puck in his own nads

Neuvirth starting tomorrow

Here is my important question....I keep seeing pictures of Mason stadium series stuff but if he doesn't play does Neuvirth have stadium series gear?

I like Neuvirth's gear over Mason's.

All I see is female doging about 5v5 scoring so I did those numbers. I also looked at the ones you list and noticed that goals/game is pretty much static over the last 3 seasons for this team but the goals against again has a jump this year.

Again to me that looks like more of a team defensive play issue all around.

- dragonoffrost

I don't disagree about the team defense, but they're below league average in GF also.

Both need to be much better than league average for success.

In his only full season here (albeit he battled injuries) last year he had 21 points in 71 games while never ever getting settled in to a position. Id like to give the kid a legit shot next season before saying he's destined to being a 4th line center. He has good speed, he is feisty, he has a hell of a shot. So he has all of those going for him. He has shown glimpses, but like you said he is injury prone, and every time he seemed to turn a corner he suffered an injury.

I still think he is a 3c next year.

- jak521

Yes he will be...on the phantoms or some other AHL team...

If you just look at 5v5 play, they've gone from 2.04 G/60 to 1.84 G/60

Could they be playing Neuvirth so much because they are shopping mason?

I don't know. Just asking.

Agreed. They're 29th in goal differential at 5v5.

No idea. But I don't really think there's a reason to "showcase" either one. They've both been around long enough that everyone knows what they are.

I was thinking that they don't want to risk an injury with Mason. I know anything can happen but Neuvirth has been solid recently(other then maybe the Edmonton game) that the can shop Mason and not worry he gets some injury where they can't move him.

Can't imagine a contender wanting Mason with a 4.1 million cap hit as a back-up, although I guess if the Flyers retained 50% maybe.

So, how long before 2real responds with: What (frank)ing team would want Mason at all???

If they are playing defense like they did the past few years they'd be winning more games...

Goal production for the team is pretty static.

Goals allowed by the team is not as good as it was.

Which is the reason?

Yes they could score more and it would help but it's not the difference from prior seasons.

The only answer isn't always score more goals.

That they've been two of the worst goalies this year, and Neuvirth just getting over an injury doesn't give a reason to showcase them?

I could see Edmonton looking for an upgrade on Gustavsson. Would LA be interested if Quick has a set back. I know Budjia played well but would they role into the playoffs with him? Calgary?

I think there could be interest.
