On the bright side Kane is worth a lot if we decide to sell him ..

But I'm thinking we probably resign him in the summer if he says no Then he gets traded at the draft for defenseman in my opinion

( or I could be incorrect I think you can talk to him on the first day of the free-agent Market)

They're allowed to talk, he just can't sign until a certain day.

Maybe the backup should have got the start tonight?
- rmiethaner

Maybe......
You think?!?!
That's is another idiotic move by Bylsma, IMO.
Back up should have definetley been in the net tonight!

I posted this earlier.

They want to see how much Lehner can handle. He's literally never played this much. They want to see how he reacts. And he's been great this past 2 weeks overall. No goalie goes out and kills it every game. He was completely hung out to dry tonight. He wasn't exactly spectacular and had his share of errors, but he got no help from his own team whatsoever. Chicago (frank)ed up a lot or it would've been worse. How many wide open nets did they miss? 3? 4?

Regardless, I think a fresh goalie would have been a boost for the team!
There is a limit to push your goalie, and Bylsma seriously pushed his threshold!!!

For me, trading Kane would be the last resort
As far as finding a defenseman or 2...
I'm hoping that Murray can find a team(s) to take advantage of bc they're in a tough spot with the expansion draft
I feel like a Fasching + (or something like that) should be able to get us a decent defenseman

I'm not worried at all whether or not Kane wants to be here
For me it's more about what it's gonna cost to sign him
Hopefully they can get it done for around 6mil per season
That's a lot, but the guy is scoring
And mostly at even strength, which is impressive (and important)

Lehner had been playing great
I'm ok with the choice
Also,
The Toews goal & PK88 goal were defensive breakdowns
I'm not gonna get on him for giving those up
The Hartman shot was just nasty. That's gonna happen sometimes.
I'd like to see him make the save on Hossa,
and I forget what the other goal was...

But my point is that I don't think he played bad
He wasn't great, but I don't put that loss on him
The guys in front of him didn't play well

Nilsson should have played, Lehner has proven himself this passed month. It was a chance for a backup to maybe still a game, team looked tired. Bylsma needed to step up here and make the right choice!
Hopefully GMTM makes some adjustments this week, for a final push for a playoff spot! Be proactive, start the show Timmy!

Lehner or Nilsson, goaltending wasn't the reason they lost

Nilsson plays we lose 5-1 or worse. Goalie wasn't the reason for the sabres giving chi the blue line the whole game and the lax defensive zone coverage

i really wasn't impressed with Lehner yesterday.. they had some open nets because he over played pucks. he let in a few softies as well. but he did not get any, chicago was clearly out skating the entire buffalo team

i will agree with this.. but Lehner did not have a great game.. if he was on his game and playing ridiculous we still lose 3-1

Hossa goal doesn't go in (bad goal) who knows the next bounce?

I agree they should have went Nilsson, but I don't think we end up winning.

They missed wide open nets because of blown coverage's.

Every team has to do it but no team ended up with more back-to-back games because of it.
- Pierceme69

That's also a product of their own doing. Have you noticed that the Sabres seem to play every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with very few Friday games? That was by the team's request.

The team was gassed last night. 12 games in 18 days and they get a fresh Hawks team. Not a good recipe. They have two winnable road games coming out of the break and they're still in it.

It was the most predictable game of this stretch. The Blackhawks are a far superior team and just toyed with the Sabres all night.

Yup. They rarely had any back to back games the first 40 games or so.

At the end of the day yesterday was simply the Sabres getting outplayed again, but not getting the bounces like they have been getting lately
