Sid chased the puck carrier when he should have been in front of the net.. no need for 3 guys to be down low like that. |

You mean the experts who say Schultz is playing exactly how he did in Edmonton? His charts are pretty much the same, proving he is the player that the numbers said he was... - j.boyd919
So what you're saying is that advanced stats don't tell the whole story?? |

Why are you comparing his first 2 years in Edmonton against his last 2 years plus his time in Pittsburgh ?

taleisyreXIII asked for a side by side comparison of his EDM years vs time in PIT. |

Schultz, despite having similar advanced stats, is more effective somehow in the Pens system.

If the stats are the same or similar... how's that "more effective" He's exactly the same. He is the player he was in Edmonton. The advanced statistics being the same just reconfirm that... he is benefitting from playing on a better team and racking up some pp points. But he's not "more effective." He's the same player. |

But you're not comparing the 2. You're comparing Edm years vs. Edm+Pitt years....unless I'm reading it wrong ? |

The 2nd chart is heavily weighted to this season. Dom doesn't have one with just the past 2 years or this season. |

Because if you only pay attention to advanced stats you're not getting the whole story. Advanced stats are still flawed.
Watching him play you can see all the things he does that makes him so effective. He doesn't play exactly the same as he did in EDM. He much more aggressive in both ends of the ice than he was in EDM.
Is he surrounded by better players? Of course, but that doesn't mean he hasn't improved areas of his game. |

I watched him in Edmonton. He's the same player. He's benefitted from not playing top line minutes, having competent D partners. And competent forwards. Advanced statistics are a record of what happened. They aren't "flawed." The way people analyze them is what causes flaws. Dude is the same player. Thriving in a lesser role. Pretty simple to see. |
