These are all the different players I've been reading and hearing about that the leafs are or aren't in on before march 1st. Which one(s) would you say if true they should go for?
Montour
Trouba
Shattenkirk
Duchene
Landeskog
Boyle (Tampa)
Rick Nash - BreathLeafs2015
Montour is a definite question mark, but given our lack of depth on D (NHL level and prospects) I'd be interested at the right price.
Trouba would be an excellent pick up, again depending on cost (both to acquire, and future contract)
Shat is excellent. If we can get him at a decent contract I'd be all over that.
Duchene is excellent, and would make us better - this would also consolidate Nylander as a W. The cost however is worrying.
Landeskog I don't think is worth the price - his performance recently has not justified what Avs will ask for him.
Boyle is the perfect 4th line forward, but the rumoured cost of a first is insane.
Nash... well, he's only got one more year on his deal after this, so not too bad. Depends on cost to acquire |

The Leafs could wait on Boyle if the price is too much. If I remember correctly I'm pretty sure it was between Tampa and the Leafs when he was in free agency. The Leafs are a lot more attractive now.
Then Shattenkirk or Trouba for me on D if the price goes down. They aren't going to get a defensmen back that is as good as him which is what they think they will get.

The difference between the asking price for Landeskog and the price many in here will accept for JVR is jaw dropping. I'd take JVR over Landeskog every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Landeskog is up there with Couturier (pre 2016) with being the most overrated player in the league. |

Anyone know if stamkos is expected back this year? Bolts aren't out if it yet. It may come down to just before the deadline if they are even sellers. |

Me too. Though being forced to live/play in Binghamton is really all the punishment that (frank) deserves |

Can't use Horton as per rules. They will have to resign players like Smith but don't have enough empty contract slots to avoid exposing players of some value to expansion draft. It is the same for all teams, bobby. - Leafsandbolts
I believe they can if he waives his no trade clause. |

They are 5-6 points out with negative games in hand with 20 games left. It is going to be really tough for them to make it. Stamkos or not. |

I think I read he won't be back until at least the 2nd round. |

Happy to very much disagree with you on both these players Walshy..
Couturier is a fantastic 2nd line C, and Landeskog a great 1st/2nd line FW.
Might not get more than 50points from both of them in the season, but these are guys any coach would want on their team come playoffs.
Hockey is more than fast skating and shooting the puck at the net. |

So is JVR, but who would overpay for him? |

if they move JvR in a trade to acquire a D-man... then considering Nash would be a good idea.... particularly if the Rangers want to get rid of his contract.... a perfect trade for Lupul. Lupul 5.5 for Nash 7.8 + Nick Holden or similar
