This is a very important point, which I hope Leafs fans comprehend as the trade deadline approaches:

Polak didn't get us a 2nd rounder.

The salary dump of Torres got us the 2nd rounder.

Please keep this in mind when talking about parlaying Komarov into two 1sts and a 2nd.

- Atomic Wedgie

Komarov can fetch a late 1st rounder, but the question is, if we can protect him, big if, then, why trade.

I think we might acquire a fwd to expose and protect komarov. thats about it.

We have a decent amount of depth at the wing, both leafs and marlies. I think komarov is expendable. Soshnikov is an adequate replacement for example. So if leafs can get a second round pick or higher for him now or at the draft, I'd do it

No one is giving us a first rounder for Komarov. Silly talk

The Leafs are so young. I bet they stock the farm with D and center prospects and then see who rises to the top. I predict they build from the farm from here on out. JMO

I hope you're right and I tend to agree that's what they want to do. Save adding pieces via UFA or big trades for further along down the road, when they have a clearer idea of what they have.

Fingers crossed. I want the team to be good for years, not just this year.

They keep saying the right things in that regard, like Shanny saying you don't build a team on UFA day, which he's held to the last two UFA days. They want to build a solid program like they had in Detroit and Jersey. Unlike Burke who said the opposite and started immediately with UFAs and big trades.

Playoffs this year is a bonus if you ask me. These kids are going to be a very good team with a few additions.

I like thinking we should be in the playoffs. I think it's good for us fans to be disappointed. If anybody says they would rather a top 5 pick, they can go (frank)ing eat out that dog that thinks he's Lums.

As in I'm (frank)ing tired of losing. YOu can't build a team with 5 years of top 5 picks. We have to add via other streams. Maybe find an up and coming D with the 18th pick this year, or wherever we pick. If we lose out completely and pick top 10, so be it. But it wasn't due to selling out

The great thing is, they can totally make the playoffs while still playing the patient, long game. There's no need to start trading futures for deadline help now. It's a great situation for them.

I doubt it.

If the leafs paid a late 1st for a mediocre 3rd liner who at his peek is 15 goal scorer and is currently not at that level I think you'd be very pissed off.

I'd like to take on trash and dump it in the minors for sweeteners. Also I'd move a bit peice or pick for a better 4th line C. If A serviceable depth vet dman came available for a late pick I'd do that too.

2 cheap bottom depth guys. And some prospects and picks for us taking out your trash is my TDL wish
Also if we could swap Andrea Johnson for a dman of same age and value I'd pounce on that

(frank), we really starting 3/4 liner can get 1st/2nd? I thought we weeded out those.

STOP IT! I ain't one of these posters that can tell you what our prospects ate for supper and if they can bench press 180. But every year I pay attention to one guy. And for me, Johnson was that guy a few years ago. So now I'm all in on him. After his asthma was diagnosed he turned the page and turned into a 7th round steal.

Winnik is no Komogod. See what he got? Komogod has extra value. He can play c or wing. Special teams. And is physical - just what u need in the playoffs
