I'm glad you're happy with him.............doesn't change the fact that it was a horrible trade in terms of value. - sensarmy_11
I think the only other real option would have been Trouba. And thats suspect at best to. He hasn't been the best player either. Time will only tell if the risk works out. |

I think his numbers also consider guys that were in the system who continued to develop with the new staff and what not. But thats 4 added NHL defensemen though. Just saying. Plus what they had in the system kind of rounds out the rest. |

4 of his 5 years in jersey he was a regular healthy scratch and spent lots of time in the AHL.......hardly what you'd expect from a cornerstone top pairing d-man who you'd trade taylor hall for. - sensarmy_11
The guy just turned 24....and no team in the NHL is trading a top 10 D for Taylor Hall a winger. Maybe the could have had Subban....but who the (frank) wants that clown...already rumors that players are sick of him in Nashville.

Russell, Sekera, Larsson, Benning, and Gryba. By bringing in Larsson and Russell this past year, he's pushed guys like Nurse, Gryba and Benning down the depth chart where they've been FAR more effective and allowed Klefbom the room to develop into a far greater offensive threat. |

I still maintain a better GM could have either gotten Larsson for WAAAY less...or gotten WAAAY more for hall - sensarmy_11
Without a doubt. |

Of course they should be worried. The Oilers improvement is due 100% to McDavid.
If they had Hall instead of Lucic and Larsson, imagine how good their team would be. The Lucic signing was horrible the day it was done and looks even worse now.
But people will still read this and complain about what I'm saying and not their incompetent GM.
ya, I guess Talbot has nothing to do with it, Draisaitl kickin ass?..I don't think this team is where they are with Hall over Lucic/Larsson, Hall is a great offensive threat but the whole team's dynamic is different..these guys are sticking up for each other, Ference commented recently about how this team is drastically different that the 2013/2015 team...I'd still do the Larsson for Hall trade today, he's been a great addiction on the back end. - yakattack

They tried. It was reported that Nuge was offered but Nashville liked Ryan JoH better. - Wildschwein
It was also reported that it was Edmonton that turned down Nuge for Jones. Beleive which side you want. Bottom line is the team is better had we done a Jones deal and not had to do a Hall for Larsson barf bag deal. Poile also stated Hall was not available then. If he was maybe he changes his mind on only wanting a C back. |

Nope. He wanted a top four role on his natural side. In Winnipeg he was being put on the left.
Trouba is a superior player to Larsson and could have been had for less than Hall. |

James tanner I don't have to imagine how good the team would be with hall and minus Lucic & Larsson cause I already know, that was last yrs team you moron.
Not surprised you guys write what you do siting in front of the screens cause you'll never get a real job in sports. |

Taylor Hall has 37 points on the season and 37 hits. Lucic has 31 points on the season and 142 hits. I don't think the Oilers are too concerned about having Lucic over Hall, let alone the defence man they got in the trade who has 176 hits so far this season. So if anybody wonders why the Oilers are harder to play against, the 318 hits Larson and Lucic brought could be a good reason, let alone having Hall skate a hundred miles an hour up the ice and loose the puck and have the rest of the team have to turn around and retrieve the puck from their own end zone. |

Last years team didnt have McDavid plus a slew of other injuries. I myself don't mind the trade, now lets see what they can do with it...make playoffs, then make some noise and people will slowly put down the daggers aimed at Chia's back.

I find this incredibly hard to believe.
Maybe it's that Peter Chiarelli has done a very poor job of evaluating talent the last few years.
Sure seems to be a pattern of poor deals for him lately... - BINGO!
So you think he only spoke with one other gm about a potential hall trade and didn't bother to talk to anyone else ?
U actually find that scenario easier to believe ? |

There would be no one posting period if you told these other idiots not to talk out of their ass. But no only say that to me because you disagree.
Plus it was said over and over again in interviews and on sports shows that Trouba wanted a role in the told four on the natural side. I didn't pull it out of my ass. |

This 1000X ... couldn't tell ya how many time I'd yell at the TV when Hall would skate down the wing and try and deke out 3 guys only to turn the puck over or fall down. |

There's no evidence to show that cheveladyoff (?) was willing to take far less than hall.
In fact after getting the pick that was gonna be laine, his left side was immediately much improved. For far cheaper
The rumours I heard is that he wanted a comparable defender. Which makes perfect sense with the glut of young forwards with somewhat high potential |

If Chia had traded Hall for a single year of Shattenkirk I would have completely lost my poop.
Lindholm I'd have been cool with, Vatanen not so much. Fowler is a lefty and Trouba had a lot of question marks at the time.
Subban went for Weber. Would either have been available for Hall? In Subban's case it was reported that the answer was no. Also I'd just as soon not be saddled with a contract like Weber's. - Wildschwein
Shhhh... Quit making sense, there will be none of that here!!! |

This was indeed the rumour. A left hand guy. I beleive it was Maxbone that even suggested Nurse for Trouba. That I would say is less than Hall. |

I miss hall. Such a great player.
But I think you really hit the nail in the head with the difference in difficulty teams have playing against the oilers now with Larsson and looch .
Shouldn't be dismissed |
