You know, we all want this team to do the same thing. Win a cup. I think we both agree there's a good chance Stepan could be gone in the offseason but I'll admit I'm getting ahead here by bringing it up now. He's just far too often disappeared for long stretches, but the guy is solid in the playoffs and a good teammate. I'll leave the Stepan thing alone until the offseason.

You know, we all want this team to do the same thing. Win a cup. I think we both agree there's a good chance Stepan could be gone in the offseason but I'll admit I'm getting ahead here by bringing it up now. He's just far too often disappeared for long stretches, but the guy is solid in the playoffs and a good teammate. I'll leave the Stepan thing alone until the offseason.

That's just it, players disappear sometimes. It's called a slump haha. I just don't think bashing of him deserves merit YET. Maybe I will at some point. I'm not here everyday so I've been taken off guard a bit since yesterday with it

Edit: who's your 3rd center if he gets traded? They traded Brassard, so imo I don't think trading Stepan is even in their heads

Isn't it hypocritical to bash players that sign long-term deals when in fact when they weren't signed long term, the same people said we have to do everything we can to sign the aforementioned player? Lol. This site is notorious for that.

The Rangers have no center depth in the organization. None, zip, zilch. If they trade Stepan in the off-season, they would have to either get some center back in trade, or sign someone.

What's the point of Coyle when you have a perfectly good defensive 4th liner like Fast?

And overpay that player also? Lol

There are deficiencies in every contract. There are some people who would rather this be like the NFL where you can just cut a player and the money is gone.

It can be argued that the going rate for a 50-60pt 2 way center is more than 6.5M

Well I think there are legitimate arguments about players that can be made in a rational way. Doesn't always equate, hate, panic, melt down etc. Run the risk of this being an echo chamber with all of us sucking each others Richards.

what I don't get is this fanbase use to HATE the opponent as much as any fanbase around, now all the venom is pointed at it's own players, and realistically we are in the midst of one of the better periods in team history

I'm trying to think if there was a Ranger I have ever really hated. The closest I could come up with was B. Boyle(sorry Brian), but that was more like extreme displeasure. I know it was probably irrational, but he bugs me.

I honestly never get out of mind with any player besides Nash. I even loved Michael Grosek for some reason. Gomez was probably my least fav ranger ever tho
