Trying to improve the Defense. Honestly it's not because of my hate for Nash. It's also one less player to protect where we can maybe salvage Grabner or something. Nash brings more then scoring so it would hurt in places I agree on that, especially the PK. Just saying I'd rather trade him then anyone else if we're gonna get Shatty or someone
- Slimtj100

I have a feeling there is 0% chance Nash gets moved before the summer. I think they are going to try to keep the forward group intact and try to use the 1st and a prospect to shore up the defense.

Wether he scores or not this year, they have more man power to score then ever so it shouldn't be as big an issue. He'll probably score like nuts because of that haha

I asked this the other day and did not get a straight answer (except someone trading his grandmother)

Would you trade Stepan for Toews straight up?

- climbdenali12

It was my mother. My dead grandmother probably has no more trade value than Marc Staal.

And I'd say that Step and his contract are about proportionately comparable to Toews and his contract. Probably a little better value out of Step's, except he needs to deliver to make that true. Toews certainly got rewarded for what he had already done when he signed his.
Keep in mind that I am somewhat biased...I have long contemplated ordering a custom made Toews New York Rangers jersey!!

A lot of my concern is losing Grabner to Vegas, I dream about this. It's bad I have a grabcrush like no one ever has

Meh, he has always been on a team where he was the biggest and sometimes only threat. Other teams would just focus on him. Call me crazy but I think Kreiders, Stepans etc. success in the playoffs is in some part because of teams focusing on the Nash line. Opens up a little more for other lines.

I think ultimately Step's name will be brought up to many GM's, it's where his trajectory is going and that trade clause that will haunt us like the Staal/Girardi deals did, he's not getting better, he's plateaued and it's not that high already

I don't think if his scoring lacks again they can't overcome it this year. To much firepower this year. Wether it was gaborik or him or whoever they usually only have this one guy maybe two that can score at a given time

I definitely agree some comments are definitely panic and irrational, but they also have to be separated from legitimate concerns. Hell I tend to be overly positive, but the way they played the Isles this year in that hippy infested dome would have me concerned in a playoff matchup. I want to see what happens next time at msg, before i really "panic".
mdw

looks like you have some of the same people the isles thread does, we lose 7 1 to toronto and all of a sudden it's "we cant make the playoffs", "this team is garbage played bad in a big game", "weight has lost the team". Now today after a win its playoffnbound again . People need to realize you're not going to win every game and there will be nights you're just off. 7 1 or 3 2 a loss in regulation is a loss move on. Rangers are locked in to the playoffs barring a mets like collapse so shouldn't be too worried. Hank looked good, all three goals there was nothing he could do about them, they were good plays or missed assignments. Heres a serious question, would you rather home ice in the playoffs and play pens or bj's, or take wc2 spot and play habs and then atlantic? I would want that 4 seed and let the metro beat each other up.

You can't trade him this year, off season maybe. I still don't agree with the pounding he's getting, this guy is as gutsy and clutch as anyone we've had in a long time

hell yeah I'd rather go over to the Atlantic, not even a hesitation, especially with how good the Rangers are on the road this season

Exactly. Its why I would want to keep him till at least the summer, but I am a Nash fan. Any line can score this year. Top 3 lines could be a number 1 line at any time.

I think you mean Miller. Staal doesn't usually play the PP.
Kreider too. Thats was awful. No confidence on the PP right now.

McDonagh, the only player covering someone.

isles played hungry and should have after that abortion in toronto. Honest question here, does rick nash just totally blow or is only against the isles? Whenever I watch a rangers game its like I never hear his name.

10, 18...whatever.

What the (frank) was he doing just standing at the other side of the net, defending nothing? Zibanejad probably should have picked up Kulemin to be honest, but still.

Pittsburgh lost Maatta for rest of regular season with hand surgery, I am sure they'll step up their own efforts for Shattenkirk, I don't believe them in Duchene thing, think that's smoke screen

Your asking the wrong person. I like him. He was in front of Greiss all night in the dirty areas, also him and Vesey I would argue were our two best forwards. Think they had the most quality chances. Stepan and Hayes line were awfully quiet all game.

It was tough to keep count, what with the Islanders tossing guys into Greiss all night. I can't count that high, tbh.
