It's as close to a playoff game as you're gonna get in the regular season, it sucks that they just don't play with the same intensity as the Isles do ever, I want to see more pride, Messier, Graves, Leetch, Richter, Beukeboom, those guys played with the pride I want to see more of from this group, maybe that's part of what's keeping us from getting the job done?

I don't know what it is with some people acting like there isn't room for both. Having a problem with last night's loss doesn't mean there's zero recognition of any good things going on with the team. I'm thrilled with the season record, and the 6 in a row, AND getting beat by the Islanders SUCKS any time and any place.

But the bolded part of Vin's post is what I agree with the most - the Islanders bring a playoff intensity to every game vs us, and we know it going in. So it's a measuring stick - a team we should beat, but will we get up enough for it and execute? And we didn't, giving the impression that this squad is still lacking something.

The intensity was there tho, I feel like I watched a different game. The Pp sucked. Guys we're diving all over to keep pucks alive, they killed off 2 penalties early, swarmed them after it was 3-2. Did anyone see this but me ?

Just came out of left field it seems like to me with Stepan. There always has to be whipping boy and it's ridiculous

I never stay on one guy for the entire year or too like people have with G, I'm also not the only one to have called out Step lately, he along with Ziba haven't been at all productive, Step is always untouchable

There was a TON that I loved about last night's game. Probably the best forecheck I've seen all season, amazing puck retrieval, winning puck battles and foot races all over the place. And if it was any team other than the Islanders I'd chalk it up to an inevitable loss despite a good effort. But it was the MFing fishes and for a lot of fans, myself included, it's a must win game. Not just because I loathe them, but as Vin said, it's a glimpse into playoff intensity game which just might say a little something about what we're made of. There's been steadily increasing about how we could use a grizzled playoff winner type, and last night's game was exhibit-A for that argument.

I think that's an over reaction itself, I don't destroy them after every loss, I do my fair share of defending players especially Girardi and the coach but I can't make excuses as easily as most, that's all I've seen for Step and last nights common looking loss to the Isles, honestly I don't know they're 5th, they rarely play a 60 minute game, I don't think they're playing to their potential

Sorry, not directed just at you. Just to the fan base as a whole. No hate for the hockeybuzz crew. True fans here.

So true, I separate what you say and pretty much everyone at game time from off days. Game time is emotional and we analyze every play.
