Ive been barking up the JVR for Barrie trade tree for a while now, I think it might happen if Avs do move Landy and get another RHD in that trade - DDM-Coga
Still think JVR is going to Anaheim, and I think it will be within the next two weeks. Get back one of Theodore or Montour plus something. I'd trade JVR & Bracco for Theodore & Montour or Manson, but I know people are going to yell at me for suggesting that.
My ideal hope is that the Leafs can pry Madison Bowie away from the Capitals with JVR. That kid has some serious top four potential. |

with EJ hurt, yeah he was. but he had Wiercoich, Beauchemin, or Gelinas as his parter for 3/4 of this season.
When he paired with Beauchemin, jesus christ is it a disaster with how bad Beauch is - DDM-Coga
It's hard to judge him defensivly when he's playing on the 30th place team.
I like the Avs. They have a lot of talented players but aren't built very well. If JVR is going to be moved I'd like to see him there. |

I have the same train of thought, I think Landy is going to the Ducks (Vantanen) or to the Bruins (Carlo or McAvoy package). Either way they are getting a RHDman back so swap Barrie for a winger. Keep Duchene down the middle with MackInnon, build wingers around them with JVR, Rantanen, Nico in the draft.

Meh, I hope not
I think he still has a good 5 years left in him. He plays 0 PP mins. But like 4 mins a game on the PK |

No way they make a major trade prior to knowing the lottery outcome.
If they are in a spot for Nico, i see them opening up a Landy move. If they are 1st overall and are drafting Patrick, then I think Duchene is going to move |

all depends on his asking price, if hes asking for 5.5m+ like it was rumoured already. I think thats going to suck |

Yeah. I could see a JVR for Fowler deal going down. You've gotta think the two sides have talked. They trade with each other every other month or so.

not fowler now, not after ths season he has had. Murray called him the ducks best Dman. Lindholm or Vantanen will be moved over Fowler now |

They may be able to get the most for them at the deadline. Especially Boston. |

Duchene/Landeskog to Toronto for 1st round pick + NHL player + AHL prospect?
JvR to Anaheim for one of their AHL defencemen
both trades will most likely be a package of players.
We would get a JvR replacement, and a good D-man for the long term. I think thats the only way this would make sense.
Essentially swapping a pick and prospect for an Anaheim D-man instead of drating and waiting for 2-3 years for him at the AHL level to mature. |

Doubtful Leafs will trade their 1st round pick any time soon.
Plus, why are we trading JVR an AHL player? |

fowler is arguably the best d-man on the Ducks this season. They're heading into the playoffs. No way they'll move one of their top 2 guys on D just for a scoring winger up front. |

I don't think any trade like that will go down during this season. In the offseason could be a different matter |

I think at least two of the players I mention will be top four defencemen in the NHL. I believe it's important for the Leafs to amass more (and more skilled) defencemen in the system. JVR is a good winger, but not a great one, and I think Bracco maxes out as a second line winger. So a deal like that makes sense to me.
Just my opinion, homey. You don't need to agree. |

If they can get a d-man from anaheim, for the long run, I'd argue they will. Cant draft anyone NHL ready as a top for 4-man from a crappy draft year, and while having a crappier pick in the 10-20 range (most likely).
Id trade our 1st round pick for a top 2-4, 20-25 yr old dman RFA at this point in time. It'll improve the team in the next 1-2 years down the line, instead of 3-5 (look at Rielly's learning curve, and he was picked 4th? 5th?) |

JvR has 1 yr left before he's asking for $7 mil a year. Aint gonna happen in Toronto, so, you're losing JvR regardless.
As for the AHL d-men, both are projected as top 4, and not with a "maybe" attached to them, from what i can see.
You're also forgetting it would be a package, and not only that, but the Anaheim player would be RFA and "stuck" in Toronto for another 5-7 years, JvR is a guaranteed leave after 1 year.
Not to mention, salary, you're getting 4.25 mil in cap space, and if you bring up an RFA, you're looking at 1 mil or so. Even on re-signing, not 4.25 for another 3-4 years at minimum.
There's a lot to take into account. |

Yes. For now.
Landy makes 5.25 mil for the next 5 years or so.
While JVR is a free agent and will be making 6.5 million. Maybe even 7 - Santo_44
With a flat salary cap seems like clioser to 6 for jvr... |

Surely Anaheim are not going to give up a guaranteed top 4 defensemen, that's cost controlled for 5-7 years for 1 year of JVR? |

Anaheim need a (frank) load more scoring than "soft" JVR from what I've witnessed of them in the playoffs |
