That should be the 2016-2017 motto for the entire Blue Jackets team - Mononoke
I don't know. That young defense is legit good. A very good goaltender. Forwards that have size and can skate. I don't know their underlying numbers but whenever I watch them they are never short on high quality chances and it's easy to see how they generate them.
This years flyers proves that hak is pretty much right. Throw Corsi out the window |

Detail is always more important than raw data. Flyers generate a solid number of shots, but not enough quality shots. They also don't have enough finishers. Defensively, they do a solid job of limiting shots, but when you allow the number of quality chances they do, that doesn't matter.

Yup. They have to lead the league in unscreened shots from 35+ feet out, and they seem to give up at least 5 slam dunk chances against every game. This is why I don't pay much attention to overall shot numbers. It's the quality of the shots that really matter at the NHL level.

I would really start to worry if Hextall started pulling off all the moves I suggest. |

I can't even stomach this years team anymore. I understand that they're somewhat rebuilding by my god this is hard to watch. |

Doesn't even feel like a rebuild though.
During a rebuild you get to see the young players getting their feet wet and learning to play in the NHL at a young age, whether ready or not.
No Laughton? No Morin? Just Konecny and Provs?
I dunno. This doesn't feel like a rebuild. It feels like an excuse so we don't focus on the garbage product. |

So we're not seeing any young players getting their feet wet? This is not a classic rebuild. The Flyers are trying, and I emphasize trying to compete while building their future through the draft.

Doesn't seem like Montreal wants to commit longterm to Galchenyuk. Would anybody trade Couturier for him. Galchenyuk's caphit would be higher by a few million but could be the 2nd line offensive center Philly needs. |

I'm watching jackets/pens and I'm seeing big and fast skaters or smaller skaters that are fast with skill. Teams with players that look to get to the net, and these players aren't swarmed upon immediately because they have a fear of the other team's breakaway ability.
The flyers don't have the horses to compete with them...plain and simple imo - Just5

I long for the days when they did
a combination of drafting, smart signings, and shrewd trades.

He's a pretty good young player. How about offering Schenn? Don't think that would do it. Not sure that Couturier would either. I do have doubts that Montreal will trade him.

If you're insinuating that they're doing nothing, I would disagree.

Not sure how you can list drafting as a part of that combination and then say the Flyers are doing nothing when they have done a great job drafting over the past few seasons.
Not gonna disagree with the other 2 but I have no issues with how they have drafted over the past 4 years or so. |

We have pieces to trade without a full blown rebuild. Mark Streit. Michael Del Zotto. Anyone within the bottom six at the forward position, although I've enjoyed watching Bellemare pick up his within the last two months.
An interesting question for me is what to do with Scott Laughton. We drafted him just short of five years ago. I personally would trade him for another project at strong position of need like LW. |

The Flyers are getting very little back for MDZ and Streit in my eyes. Or any of the bottom 6 for that matter.
