no trade rumors after that poop show - 2Real
No need for a knee jerk reaction. This season was expected, at least very plausible, so keep a stead head. Cooler heads will prevail. |

The Flyers are a nice cocktail of the following ingredients.
1) declining star player
2) Underachieving players
3) Poor mixture of forwards. ( too many grinders, not enough skill and speed)
4) Continued poor puck management and blown defensive coverage.
5)lousy goaltending
6) Lack of top defenseman
Mix it all together and you get a cocktail you poor down the drain. - MJL

Just for all those who say we should never trade Simmonds.
Last night you saw what can happen to a power forward over time and the reason I suggest maybe moving Simmonds while value is never higher.
Lucic is a shell of what he was and signed long term. - J35Bacher
Yeah the Flyers really need to ask themselves if they want to sign a 30 year old Wayne Simmonds to the deal he will likely command. I would not be willing to sign him to the deal I think he would likely get on the open market. |

You all are kind of overthinking it.
Vegas is probably going to focus on a couple of things in the expansion draft: players that can help them right away, and players that have value in the trade market so they can build their asset base.
I like Taylor Leier, but there's no reason to spend a protection slot on him. There's no guarantee he's an NHL player, and he's not gonna fetch anything beyond another fringe C-grade prospect at this point.
It's debatable whether or not they'd even be interested in Cousins and Manning. - Tomahawk
well they have to take someone and if the choice came down to Weise or Cousins I know who I would be claiming |

I don't think we will see Hextall make a trade to upgrade this current team. He is all about draft picks, prospects and the future. That has been clear since day 1 he took over and has not strayed at all on that plan. so do not expect a trade for a current top star that may be available.
Other then getting rid of some bad contracts for picks etc, what has he really went out and done that said WOW to the media and public? No big free agent signings, no big trades for established players etc. We need to all sit back and just hope and pray that his plan will someday workout. Right now, im not so sure we are on the right path yet. Defense sure, Goalies coming but we all know we are not guaranteed a star out of any of them until they play enough games at the NHL level..Forwards is our concern, and will be for awhile.
It's to bad this years draft is very thin on top prospects, some pretty bad depth in this draft class they are saying. |

Last night with Maroon going after Manning I was really thinking how nice it would have been to have Morin in the lineup.
I know Manning is tough and won't back down but it would be really nice to have our weapon to throw out there. - J35Bacher
I agree, outside of Simmonds there isn't really anyone to be feared on their roster. It's not a major sticking point of building a team anymore but Flyers were definitely bullied during both games in Alberta. |

It's not about panic or knee jerk. It's about being smart and analyzing what you have. Giroux at this point needs to be traded to escape that contract. That sucks to say but it is what it is.
Flyers need to strongly look at their 'core' forward pieces moving forward. |

Kind of a reason why I don't want to move Morin. I know he isn't the new wave dman who can skate, pass, score but he provides something we don't have. An intimidation factor.
Now he needs to be smart about it.
But it's like a condom at a keg party. better to have one and not need it then need one and not have it. |

They aren't really grinders either though. Many are poor skaters or undersized lacking a consistent physical element.

The dream I have for Morin is an Orpik in his prime. That is a damn good player.
Not sure he can get there but let's see. |

Cousins or Manning are NHL players, like Read and Weise, but they're cheaper and younger. |

I think GMGM's kinda cut from the same cloth as Homer... in AMac he'll see a young-ish, mobile, 20-min defender. If they can stomach the cap-hit/term, I think they'll bite. |

Now you're just being goofy. Defense is the where the quality of options will be highest for Vegas compared to forward or goalie. If they want a veteran like MacDonald there will be better and/or cheaper options, like Jack Johnson and Paul Martin.
A 24 year old forward like Cousins who can score 20 points playing in the middle 6 would be a much better use of cap space for Vegas. |

I think Morin has some underrated game. He won't be a big point producer but I think it will be more then expected. |

Morin becomes Orpik in his prime and I am jumping for joy. I just hope he is more in line with Orpik than Luke Schenn. I think its smart for the Flyers to have brought him along very slowly.
I think one part where Morin may get caught up is the enforcer role. From the little I have seen it seems guys are constantly going challenging him to `prove themselves`. I dont want Morin to just become a bruiser like that. |

That needs to be amended to the Flyers should explore opportunities to trade Giroux. The possibility exists that Giroux could rebound. This is the biggest decision the Flyers have to make, and really the only situation I'm concerned about. |

Fighting is way down across the NHL. That's not a concern at all. |
