For the most part I think it was well writtten and I agree with the overrall theme. The collective players aren't good enough. They try hard. More consistent effort than they ever gave lavy for the lavy lovers. I think Donnellon nailed it - Just5
I didn't read it. I was alluding to something else. |

I think using only goals to judge offensive effectiveness is worse. It unfairly downplays the contribution of a player like Konecny when you ignore all his assists.
Joe Thornton has 5 goals in 58 games and a few of those are ENGs, but I'm pretty sure we could use a guy like him right now. - Feanor
I don't think +/- is used enough |

Yeah, he would. If the main pieces were Giroux and Plekanec, the Flyers would not need to add extra pieces like Raffl. Montreal would be adding. - Feanor
Pipe dream, but if Montreal is having issues with Galchenyuk, I'd try to pry him out. |

Where does the first goal rank on this season's rankings of worst goals to give up? It has been incredible how bad some of these are. - YuenglingJagr
When you have a big pile of heaping garbage of bad goals, does it matter what's on the top or the bottom? |

To Montreal: Giroux, Laughton, Raffl, 3rd rounder
To Philly: Plekanec, Shaw, McCarron, 1st rounder
- J35Bacher
Good lord, man. C'mon.
Anybody who thinks Giroux is "declining" or should be traded only needs to ask himself one question:
Do you think Blackhawks fans are saying the same thing about Jonathan Toews?
(hint: the answer is no) |

So in short, the players aren't good enough and they are backed up by a coach who makes a ton of questionable decisions. Sounds like a stellar combination. - PLindbergh31
isnt that exactly what we said about Lavy too? |

The only true statistic is +/- one timers. If you take more one-timers than the other team, you will win more often that not. It's science. |

Would they want a Schenn for Galchenyuk?
My idea was using the Phanuef trade as basis. I think to move Giroux your not going to get some sexy return like I feel people think will happen. |

Yes. If you have the pizza on the top of the pile, it depends how long it's been sitting there. |

But they also have 3 cups in their back pocket. |

What the Blackhawks think about Toews is irrelevant. The Blackhawks are still a top team and have won 3 cups in the last 6 years. I think the situations are slightly different, don't you? Giroux is without question a declining player. |

If you look at his stats he is actually regressing quicker than Giroux. A new bird is going to have to be invented, because albatross just doesn't cut it |

The sad thing is they will be in this same spot next year unless Hextall makes major changes. Someone mentioned that the Leafs were able to trade Dion, so hey G or anyone else on this roster can be moved. No excuse for Hextall not give this team new look in the off season. - 3flyerkids
G would only be moved if he is ok with it. NMC |

Remember rumors I think in the offseason or very early in the year.
Simmonds for Galchenyuk, Beaulieu and 1st rounder?
Would you revisit something like that? |

He's from Ontario, which means it's always been his dream to play for the Maple Leafs. |

I keep hearing everyone say they are exactly what we thought they would be. A playoff bubble team. Right? Right? Well there is 25 games to go, and they have a 3% chance to make the playoffs. Not exactly the definition of bubble. Now what? - PLindbergh31
They are still a bubble team until that percentage hits 0%. We've seen some wacky late season runs recently by other teams. I know this next week is brutal for the Flyers but we've seen stranger things than them back to back beating the Caps and Pens.
I give Mason the starts in in the next 3 since reports are Neuvy poop the bed last night. So glad I fell asleep before that game started. We need to get Mason hot and on a roll if we want a chance and we all know the only way that's happening is if it's HIS net and there is no chance of someone stealing it. So time for Hakstol to mind game him and give him the 100% vote of confidence and ride him until the deadline. |
