When he played for the Phantoms last year he was their best forward. He won't need a year in the AHL. - Feanor

I think he'll be on the big club as long as he has a good camp.

Even if the Flyers lost every remaining game in regulation, they probably wouldn't get the best lottery odds
Colorado is on pace for 48 points |

Yes, there is. Oskar Lindblom.
Yes. If Read goes to Vegas, they could have over $13m in space to add a top 6 forward and a goalie.
Giroux ~ 8.275
Voracek ~ 8.25
MacDonald ~ 5
Schenn ~ 5.125
Couturier ~ 4.33
Simmonds ~ 3.975
Ghost ~ 3.5
Gudas ~ 3.35
Raffl ~ 2.35
Weise ~ 2.35
Umberger BUYOUT ~ 1.5
Cousins ~ 1.5
Lyubimov ~ 1.5
Stolarz ~ 1
Manning ~ 0.975
Lindblom ~ 0.925
Leier ~ 0.9
Laughton ~ 0.9
Konecny ~ 0.894
Provorov ~ 0.894
Sanheim ~ 0.863
Morin ~ 0.863
TOTAL (21 players) = 59.219 - Feanor
Let's hope this scenario plays out. I'm fine with Nuevirth on the cheap and Stolarz sharing time next season. That gives them plenty of money to sign a legit forward. |

I keep hearing everyone say they are exactly what we thought they would be. A playoff bubble team. Right? Right? Well there is 25 games to go, and they have a 3% chance to make the playoffs. Not exactly the definition of bubble. Now what? - PLindbergh31
Nobody banked on giroux going full vinny.
That's the difference |

I think he'll be better as a 21 year old rookie than Konecny was as a 19 year old rookie.
40 points is a lot unless he gets PP1 time, though. - Feanor
Admittedly I don't know much about Lindblom. Sounds like a really nice prospect. Konecny would have been close to 40 points this year had he not gotten injured. Konecny and Lindblom are definitely a start. |

It was a shrewd move to clear money and prepare for the future. The return wasn't sexy but it helped clear a big contract without retaining money.
To OTT: Phaneuf, Matt Frattin, Casey Bailey, Ryan Rupert and Cody Donaghey
To TOR: Jared Cowen, Colin Greening, Milan Michalek, Tobias Lindberg and 2017 2nd rounder - J35Bacher
It was a very shrewd move as none of those players really saw the ice for the Leafs.
Dion was struggling with the Leafs as their Captain as he was pushed into that #1 Dman role which he wasn't. Is G no longer a true #1 centre... His numbers on are a decline. A major player movement has to happen G, Jake, Couturier, or Schenn.

Yeah, if G is completely shot, a player like Lindblom isn't going to fix that.

He's probably our 2nd or 3rd best prospect behind Sanheim and maybe Myers.

Whens the expansion draft? I don't think we are going to see many, if any , trades of players before the deadline that are still under contract after this season. Teams need to know they can protect that player and still have the ability to protect their own. |

Giroux is definitely the biggest worry because unlike Couturier, Schenn or Ghost, his 16-17 struggles could be the result of hitting an age-related wall.
I personally don't believe that's the case, but it's possible. |

Donnellon is on to something here.
The Flyers are seventh in shots taken per game (31.2).
They are eighth in shots allowed (28.5).
This implies that Dave Hakstol's system is working.
It also implies that he doesn't have much to work with.
It also perfectly illustrates that quality of shots taken, and given up, matter.

I look at Montreal. They want to move Plekanec. he has one more year at 6 million. I also think they would be willing to move Shaw. He has a deal at 3.9 million and isn't really giving them anything. I would do what I can not to retain any salary on Giroux. This is the idea I have in my head. Might not be perfect but I think close to the Dion deal.
To Montreal: Giroux, Laughton, Raffl, 3rd rounder
To Philly: Plekanec, Shaw, McCarron, 1st rounder
Montreal improves the top 6. Raffl plays a better role then Shaw. laughtonis a solid depth prospect for them.
Philly gets Plekanec who can be the number 1 center next year on final year. Shaw could be a solid depth guy if he can turn it around like when he was a hawk and is younger then Raffl. McCarron is a prospect with size which the Flyers need and they get a 1st rounder.
I don't think it's a terrible deal but I could be mistaken. |

I would tend to think it is the age, because it is a trend that has been going down for the last three seasons. PP production has remained somewhat steady, but ES is taking a steady and precipitous decline over that period.

Let's all calm down. Loved what snider did for the flyers but if he were around he'd have his finger on the dump button. Just glad that there's patience in the organization now |

I believe it is. I think he lost the team with his very questionable scratches of the young players and lets face it, his system is crap. |

I'm not really worried about that. Provorov made plenty of mistakes but played every game. Konecny missed a couple. The last three game scratch for Ghost was weird, but he's still played in 96% of possible games since he was called up. |

His 5 on 5 scoring actually went up from 14-15 to 15-16, though. If it was just an age thing, it should have gone down every year since 13-14.
13-14: 2.08
14-15: 1.47
15-16: 1.72
16-17. 0.87
And the fact much younger players are also slumping at 5 on 5 this season, is good reason to think it's not just something specific to Giroux. |
