This team looks so bad its not even funny. Whatever system they are playing is just pitiful, or they lack the horses to make it work...ie puck moving mobile dmen. I wonder is Toronto or Arizona would take mcdud along with a pick/prospect to take him. Im all in favor of stripping this thing down as much as possible. My trade candidates would be all of the forth line, mcdud, weis, shcult, mdz.

I keep hearing everyone say they are exactly what we thought they would be. A playoff bubble team. Right? Right? Well there is 25 games to go, and they have a 3% chance to make the playoffs. Not exactly the definition of bubble. Now what?

They are 2-3 points out of the playoffs, I still consider that a "bubble team" and I think they will remain that throughout the remainder of the season.

It could be worse. They could have that scrub Babcock.

They will be nearly eliminated from the playoffs, Hextall will trade a bunch of players, then they will go on some remarkable stretch of winning games and screw themselves out of a top 6 pick

Idk about that. The way they are playing now they won't. The Islanders and Leafs are playing solid hockey now. And the Bruins haven't lost since they fired Julien.
If you substitute 12 points for the 20 they got during that mirage 10 game winning streak this is the third worst team in the NHL.

Islanders have just passed them, it's just a matter of time before Florida does and I would not be suprised to see Tampa make some kind of run.
The Flyers will not be " on the playoff bubble" with this level of play for much longer.
They may be on the bubble for 3rd last in NHL

Islanders have a home and home with the Devils this weekend, so you know they are getting points.

The sad thing is they will be in this same spot next year unless Hextall makes major changes. Someone mentioned that the Leafs were able to trade Dion, so hey G or anyone else on this roster can be moved. No excuse for Hextall not give this team new look in the off season.

I really have no idea how the roster will be that different next year. You may have Morin and Hagg on the blueline replacing Streit and MDZ that may be an improvement but there will be growing pains for sure. There isn't any forward who is knocking on the door as a difference maker. Is there cap room to add a legit top 6 forward in FA? I hope so, if not Hextall has to make a trade for one.

Yes, there is. Oskar Lindblom.

Yes. If Read goes to Vegas, they could have over $13m in space to add a top 6 forward and a goalie.

By difference maker I mean at least a 45-50 point player. Lindblom is going to be that next year?

It was a shrewd move to clear money and prepare for the future. The return wasn't sexy but it helped clear a big contract without retaining money.

To OTT: Phaneuf, Matt Frattin, Casey Bailey, Ryan Rupert and Cody Donaghey

To TOR: Jared Cowen, Colin Greening, Milan Michalek, Tobias Lindberg and 2017 2nd rounder

I think he'll be better as a 21 year old rookie than Konecny was as a 19 year old rookie.

40 points is a lot unless he gets PP1 time, though.

I think he may have to spend a year in Lehigh to get better acclimated to the North American game and the smaller rinks before we can make that determination.

When he played for the Phantoms last year he was their best forward. He won't need a year in the AHL.
