Those teams had much more than that.

I agree you pretty much need a star D though. Look what Pronger did, carried 2 teams to the finals and won a cup in Anaheim.

We have Hutton on the back end and Chaput in the middle.

Oh, we're going for the Calder Cup. My bad.

I still think we're a bit weak though.

Sure, no problem. I'll take care of that in the summer.

never mind the fact that there isn't an obvious 1c or 1d in this draft so drafting in the middle is pretty much the same as drafting in the top 5 in this draft.... there's like a chunk of 40 players that are miles apart in every ranking

It took Colorado about seven drafts before they got on the right track and won a Cup, Los Angeles and Chicago about the same, this is gonna take awhile so folks had better buckle up.

Only when we have a "Name the team" contest will our rebuild really begin

We can do that at the summer picnic.

They can take short cuts and be successful, but that requires making good trades which I find unlikely at this point.

Yes those teams had much more than that and yes Carter was traded for. My point was I am tired of cheering for the Vancouver Euros.
All those star players I mentioned in my other comment are excellent Canadian hockey players.

Please no Liljegren, Hischier, Tolvanen etc until.we have a good core of Canadians.

IF we won the draft lottery, who would be your picks?

Here's mine:

1) Hirshier (there's currently a 6.5% chance we get 1st)
2)Patrick (6.66% if we dont win #1)
3) Liljegren (8.387 % If we don't get 1 or 2)

Don't really care where they come from, as long as they're good!

Another ill informed/racist comment, we would be lucky to get any of Liljegren/Hischier/Tolvanen.

If Francesco keeps making their picks for them, they'll be great when he sells the team.

I know this top 5 is a little weaker than the past couple seasons right now, but if Nolan Patrick is available to us with any pick I wouldn't pass him up. He's heavy, like 6'5" and still skates well as a 17 year old, NHL ready with a big offensive upside... pretty much the ideal Draft choice for the Canucks in this draft.

Horvat/Patrick either playing together or being out future top 6 centres makes me smile.

There's just some that will always have a bias against them. Kopitar, Hedman, Malkin, and Hjarlmalsson are also example of Euro playoff studs in the current era. BPA is always the best policy. One of our pillars for the next ten years is a Canadian kid, that's good enough. Also, this bigoted bias also leave US players as an anomaly, but then when you bias against people because of their ethnicity there's not often a lot of logic.

What makes me smile is that the season is almost over.

liar! fake media!

colorado did not need 7 drafts before winning the cup!!!!! they won in their first year of existence.

canucks need to emulate the avalanche model! stanley cup 2018 is possible if the team stays away from people like you in the lame stream, negative, fake media!
