Im more interested in how the story changed from "total accident" to him admitting he did it on purpose. Think should of got more games for just being totally full of sht

Bob said that Nyquist admitted in the hearing that he had done it on purpose. Nyquist's initial story that it was completely accidental.

I think you and I agree that it falls somewhere between those two. He meant to do something illegal, but not a blade to the face. His stick upturned unexpectedly when it hit the boards.

He was going to cross check him. His knob caught the glass when you was bringing his stick around to cross check him and hit him in the face. Is was a poop play but let's not act like Nyquists intent was to remove spurgeons eye.

If he played for Pittsburgh he would have gotten 0 games. Just like Letang last year.

Letang got suspended last year. Not for the stick, but he got suspended in the playoffs last season for a hit.

Vermette barely touched him.. I don't even think that he deserved a suspension
- ShaneP22

Doesn't matter, the rule leaves zero room for subjectivity. Abuse an official: automatic 10-game suspension. It's black-or-white, there is no gray.

Yeah, you don't hit the guy with your stick. Fire some pucks his way!

No consistency in the approach. If you want to make a statement, do it across the board. Gus let the frustration of the season get to him while Marchand has done the same thing for years....

I think with Keith's 5 regular season and 1 playoff game precedent, you can argue that in this case the DoPS was more consistent than usual.

E:But I agree with your sentiment, some of the poop people get away with is beyond ridiculous.

This was totally consistent with previous suspensions. No history, no injury.

The problem isn't this suspension, the problem is the entire system. The fact they care about injuries & the result of the play is ridiculous.

On the plus side for Nyquist, if he can squeeze in another couple suspensions, he'll be sure to get a contract offer from somewhere like Minnesota next time he's a UFA.
