Agreed. I think a lot of it has to do with the budget for the project. It was built as a highly functional, but low-frills Arena. The price tag was about $150 mil if memory serves. If Roch ever builds a new 10-11K seat arena, I wonder if the NHL would allow the Sabres to play there for a year while KBC is demolished and a new one built on site. Obviously we're talking 15 years down the road
- jcragcrumple

I doubt any talk of a new arena will come to pass for at least another decade. That being said, I would think that it would not be where Key Bank Center is. My guess is the new Bills Stadium and a potential new Sabres arena would be built in the same complex...wherever that may be.

Semi-related: By modern stadium standards, KBC (FNC, HSBC Arena etc.) is at least middle aged. I'm pretty sure the Braves moved out of a stadium that is actually younger. So now we have the Harbourcenter attached to the arena, will it be a situation where we just constantly upgrade it like MSG? The front isn't bad to look at, but the back, sides and roof are hideous. At some point i'm sure the NHL is going to pressure the Pegulas to do major renovations or push for a new arena.

Which reminds me, most teams are rewarded with an all-star game for building a new arena. Buffalo never was

Meh, don't get too upset. Boston has only ever hosted it twice, and they've been around a lot longer.

From Ek's post:

On Evander Kane...

Kane has been scouted by many teams this year and there is an obvious reluctance...A few sources of mine had tied him to Montreal, but one main source told me Therrien would never allow it...However, there may be another look now that Julien is at the helm...

Would we be able to pry out Galchenyuk for Kane & Gio?

Would that even be worth it?

- thatsapickle

If that trade ever happens TM can stay 7 years lol

Usually people that host the draft get an All-Star Game so it's kind of strange we haven't gotten any word

I'll trade the All-Star Game for a Winter Classic please lol

Batavia /s/

Moving the Sabres arena and leaving the Harborcenter where it is seems to go against the point of the Harborcenter. It'll be interesting for sure, but there's little doubt that in order to sell Buffalo on a new Bills stadium, Pegula is gonna have to pony up at least a third of the cost, maybe $300 mil, as the going rate for a stadium seems to be $1b. That's obviously priority over KBC which is fine, if a little boring. The sight lines at both are great, though. I was too young for the Aud, but i love the pictures of obstructed view seats with the TVs in front of your face

Pretty annoying they haven't been in ANY other outdoor games, when they were the host team for the re-birth of the whole outdoor phenomenon (holy poop, I spelled that right!)

There has been a lot of talk that Galchenyuk isn't performing well, but maybe Julien will help.

I'm curious what could happen with him in the future.

The futility of the team over that timespan has a lot to do with it. If this team was in the championship conversation, they would have been.

They haven't announced for next year, right? WJC is outside at the Ralph the week before. Seems like a no-brainer for the Winter Classic to come back on the 10th anniversary when all the equipment will already be there

They haven't announced it yet

The only issue I see is having the Winter Classic on New Years day.

It would be impossible to repaint the ice with the proper logos and such after the USA Canada game on New Years Eve

It's not on New Year's Eve. It's on the 29th (I think...whatever that Friday is).

Only sith deal in absolutes...

I think there have been two rink setups before to accommodate an alumni game. I'd love to see the game here again

If the USA Canada game is on December 31st it is impossible to have it ready for Buffalo vs Edmonton on January 1st

They have to melt down the ice enough to remove the decals and lay the new ones, then repaint the white ice and build it up again. That process takes at least 36 hours (I run a rink and that's dealing with ideal conditions) not to mention its outdoors so who knows what curve balls mother nature throws at you.

If the USA Canada game is on the 29th like Buffalo19 said then its doable but very tough...

Inside info from your Pops?

Honestly though, the food at 716 isn't anything to write home about either. I don't hate it, but it's kind of overpriced for what it is.

The beef on weck egg rolls are the only thing I've had from there that I feel is actually really good, but you pay like $8 for 3 of them (which they cut in half to make it look like there's 6).

- HonkFortheGoose

I've liked what I've eaten there but yes, they are a little pricey. I think it was $11 or $12 for 8 wings. Yikes

Zadarov: 53GP 0G 10A 10Pts -18+/-

and

Franson 51GP 3G 13A 16Pts -1+/-

But I spell Stamkos with 8 letters.

Interesting that
Franson 88:03 of PP time (2pp)
Zads 35:40 of pp time (2pp)

Zads is a PP machine, look at that efficiency

but one thing you guys might notice now is that Zads plays the Right side, the last 30 games or so, and for whatever reason its that switch to his off side that he has started to become more of the Destroyer and Eater of Worlds

It's doable but tough, unless they use a blended World Juniors/Winter Classic decaling and logos then it's a no brainer.

But it's not an easy transition that's for sure.

My guess is they have a proposal in place with those concerns included. It just depends on whether the NHL is on board.

Couldn't they construct a 2nd rink next to the WJC rink, then move it into place for the big game? IDK the logistics, but there's gotta be a way to do it, if you really want to host

With Buffalo and USA hockey paying the tab they would be dumb not too!

Eichel vs McDavid

Eichel vs Matthews (my guess is USA hockey would love this)

Eichel vs Crosby (last option)
