Also - I'd really hate to part with DeBrinkat - he's looking like he could be fun to watch (I know, I know he clearly needs to lay on some muscle and we haven't seen him in the NHL yet but still...)

Agreed, and though we often get spanked for it on here, it's fun to have some hope/expectations the top prospects will really help the team.

He is 2-3" shorter than Kane and heavier than Kane was coming into the league. Kane seems pretty strong on his skates/in his upper body. Hopefully, he can be the same.

Krueger, Schmaltz, Forsling , and 2018 first ? WOW !!

That woule be hard for Colorado to turn down..... that's a great package for a team on the rebuild IMO.
and who could top that ??
OR......... would Debrincat have to be part of it to get it done ? A Desi throw in would help our cap though really.

In my uneducated opinion, as much as Duchene is a very good offensive player, that's a big overpay.

Sibir lost on OT today now at 81 pts 1 game left
Vladstock is up 1-0 in 2nd is at 82 PTS (1 game left after this)
Kunlan is down 4-1 after 2nd 83 pts (1 game left after this)

3 teams for 2 spots.

It did not update his stats from today Sibir had 40 shots on Goal compared to 20 something for the team that won.

on 2/14/14 Maxim had 9 SOG and was 13-9 at the dot.

I know that people question if he can help but you cannot argue he would be our biggest FR and he puts a ton of shots on goal. Both not this teams strengths.

Would be silly to trade him right now given they don't know what they have. Fortin is a ppg player and DeBrincat has been thru the roof but both in juniors so give them time. Rather trade someone from Rockford than one of those two right now.

Vladivostok just went to OT so they pick up at least 1 point giving them 84. With Kunlun at 83 and Sibir at 81 - Sibir would need a 3 point win on Saturday and hope Kunlun loses in regulation time.

Hawks
Polak would be a good depth move and if it were me I would throw all the Draft picks necessary to land Duchene but only if they have the money to resign him in the off season.

Duchene is signed for 2 more seasons after this.

- Kentxo

The Hawks are not getting Duchene. They can't afford him. It's as simple as that.

Again I will say that Palat would be my first choice. He would strengthen and upgrade area's that we lack.
Palat

Palat is actually doable. 3.5m hit and RFA after this year.

You keep updating standings in the KHL - like Shalunov is coming over here as the savior once his season is over.

The KHL is a HUUUUGE drop-off from the NHL. And we are talking about a Russian player that struggled mightily at the AHL level. And he is not in the same company as Panarin - so that comparison will not hold water.

If the Hawks offer him a contract, he will be playing again in the AHL - to show if his game will transfer over to the North American surface - and that is a BIG "IF"!!!!!!

Let me rephrase. You could maybe get Palat for this year. But you won't be able to resign him. They have no cap space. They will get outbid on him. Someone will offer him 4-5 million a year and the Hawks can't match that. So it will turn into a Saad situation where you have to deal him.

Also, why would Tampa deal him? There is not much chatter out there on him getting moved anyway.

Its actually Kunlan and vladvostok at 83 and Sibir at 81. they website updates the current game depending on the score. IE if its tied during the game it shows the team getting 1 point even before its over and then adjusts each time a lead changes. Confusing.

Haha, I'm just a realist. Look at who they have acquired in the past at the deadline. Ladd was a UFA. Vermette was a UFA. Fleishmann. Weise. Timomen. Campoli.

Very rare, if ever, has Bowman acquired, at the TRADE DEADLINE, anyone of significance that was not on the last year of their deal.

Add in our cap issues. Add in the expansion draft coming up. Add in that most teams are buyers and there are very few sellers.

Focus on the UFA guys.

He's RFA so there wouldn't be an opportunity for outbidding. He could get an offer sheet though. In the case of a Saad situation, he's actually got more upside as a rental because you'd get a return for trading his rights, rather than a UFA who just walks. As far as why Tampa would deal him? No idea, it was reported as a rumor.

To be clear, I don't think Shalunov is a savior, nor am I even certain he will agree to sign with the Hawks. But, I do think he is a nice player and he has played on the smaller ice surface before so I don't thin he would have the same learning curve other Euro-players would have when first playing on NHL ice. I see him similar to a TDL pickup, minus the cost. Not a Duchene or Palat level player, but maybe as someone who can play bottom-6.
