Owner of the Senators said in an interview about the trade deadline - "Have you heard what they are asking in return for Duchene? They want 2 of our kids (White and Chabot) that are going to be stars. That's not happening".

Somebody may pony up big for Duchene in the next 2 weeks, but the Avs could also wind up sitting on him until the summer.

- RickJ

I didn't hear or see that interview. Interesting stuff Rick. Do you think the Avs would get more in the offseason as opposed to the TDL? Wouldn't teams more likely "overpay" at the deadline?

Hawks
Polak would be a good depth move and if it were me I would throw all the Draft picks necessary to land Duchene but only if they have the money to resign him in the off season.

Duchene is signed for 2 more seasons after this.

You gotta think StanBo is wincing knowing he is possibly gonna lose Hartman or even TvR enough to throw other players picks Las Vegas way to not select them.

I just want to say prior to his draft, I always liked Hartman and said so way back:

https://www.draftsite.com...layer/ryan-hartman/19528/

But after seeing him smothered around the present skill of the parent club, his strengths are being highlighted. Sure, eventually, the NHL refs are gonna quit falling for the way he draws penalties, but I am impressed with his eye and touch for the net...I guess I thought he was gonna fall short on offense but he is a quick thinker, and reactor, and has enough that teams are taking notice of him as a threat.

Duchene would be a fantastic add. I am curious to see how the captain's play will adjust if his LW is Matt Duchene. Palat is also just a solid player and plays smart. I wonder if a Palat addition will help Kempny? Considering they are both Czech.

Just crossing my fingers that we can protect Hartman, Fortin, and Kempny.

- 93Joe

Fortin and Kempny are not draft eligible.

Again I will say that Palat would be my first choice. He would strengthen and upgrade area's that we lack.

John Dietz's article in The Daily Herald a few days ago about Toews wanting stability on his line:

http://www.dailyherald.co...0170213/sports/170219385/

IMO this will be a big factor in the Hawks not making any TDL deal this year for a top 6 LW.

[quote=PuckAndSticks]JJ, you've tossed Duchene's name into the Hawks target acquisition bucket. What sort of assets would it take to get a deal like that done? Top rookie, top prospect and a 1st? Or would there be more NHL faces going the other way
- John Jaeckel

Krueger, Schmaltz, Forsling , and 2018 first ? WOW !!

That woule be hard for Colorado to turn down..... that's a great package for a team on the rebuild IMO.
and who could top that ??
OR......... would Debrincat have to be part of it to get it done ? A Desi throw in would help our cap though really.

The hawks are in great shape for the EXP draft. Extend Tootoo and expose Kruger. and Maybe, maybe have Seabs waive. your best player exposed would be. Pokka I guess. If I was a team in trouble right now In regard to the EXP draft I would be talking to the hawks. They have a spot open for a Wing and we could send back forsling who is exempt. Bottom line is if we lose either TVR or POKKA, we are basically losing a 3rd line RD. TVR only is under contract 1 more yea and then a RFA 1 year and then a UFA so I'm sure Vegas would prefer younger players then that. Do they want to pay him $2.5 mil on a Long term deal on his next contract which they can start negotiating in 5 mos.

He said "Kruger, rookie, top prospect" and you put those names in there. You are fake news.

At this point does McNeill have any trade value, or this that now a wasted 1st round draft pick? I just thinking in regards to a Polak or Duchene trade.

Yes, opens the number of teams up who would be interested in Duchene but can't do it now because of Cap constraints.

And although GM's spew a lot of BS at this time of year, I get the sense that not many of them want to trade off their very good young prospects who can play on entry level deals.

FWIW, they do not plan to lose Hartman either at the TDL or the expansion draft.

My guess is that he has no trade value. The best case scenario would be to trade him in a Morin/Panik type of deal. The most realistic scenario is that he plays out the rest of his contract in Rockford then walks at the end of the season.

McNeill is very valuable. it's pure coincidence that he hasn't been able to make it with the Hawks IN FIVE YEARS! After this summer's ceremony naming the Rockford Clocktower after him, he may join Drew LeBlanc on the Augsburger Panthers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Ah yes, I too am fluent in language of sarcasm.
I was more talking in terms as a throw in - say Kruger, Forsling, McNeill, and '18's 1st round pick for Duchane. Not as a headliner in a trade. I have read reports that some teams have liked him in the past, but I am guessing that time has past.

Trade Deadline is more and more of a Bust every year. Teams don't want rental retreads so its 3rd and 4th Liners that are moved and TSN and SporNet sit and talk all day.

Hawks

I totally agree Colby, when you have a good shot at landing "a hot chick per say" and you got the game to do it , and I think Duchene and Toews makes such a combo to be in the game , you go for it , you Land shark it!
The hell with settling for the Plumpy's , Go get Duchene Stan! Pretend your out with your buddy's on a Friday night in the bars in college, Duchene is " the 1ya want" ! Handle it !

https://theathletic.com/3...blicly-pushing-for-trade/

IceHogs coach Ted Dent has coached McNeill all four seasons and has seen McNeill at his best. While McNeill hasn’t consistently been at that level this season, Dent is confident McNeill can still be an NHL player if he regains his drive.

“This year has been inconsistent, but it’s also been hard for him mentally to accept being here for his fourth year,” Dent said. “We’ve seen it with other players and then they get released from their situation here or whatever term you want to use — moved, traded, called up — and then all of a sudden you see a different player. It’s like a breath of air. Hopefully that’s the case.
