I'm probably doing this wrong, but looking at the Leafs' roster, I think that of the guys currently playing, the only forwards we are in danger of losing are:

Kadri
JVR
Bozak
Komarov
Martin

So we if the Leafs manage to trade Lupul for Bobby Orr Jr., I don't really have a problem with protecting 4 d and 4 forwards.

We would get over losing Komarov or Martin pretty easily.

Don't have to protect Zaitsev, and they can only protect 3.
