Do we save some for bonuses? Or deal with that after? |

Well that's a nice little bonus. Wonder if that has any affect on a Shattenkirk deal? |

I'm thinking more options will be available in the offseason (after the expansion draft) - walshyleafsfan
After the expansion draft teams won't have any incentive to move that extra dman.
Trade happens before the draft |

Confirmed that the Leafs put Lupul, Horton and Robidas on LTIR early on this season and it wasn't reported. They have a lot of cap room. - burn
Why would they do that I wonder?

Interesting article.
It would be nice to know what the terms in the contracts are for the rookie performance bonuses they have. Lou and co. should have a pretty good feel of what the potential bonuses they have to pay, up to the $5.6M. |

it's a smart move if they aren't going to play otherwise they'll count against the cap regardless. My understanding, which admittedly is limited in this area, is that say you had 4 Million in cap space for the whole year you could technically take on 16 mil worth of contracts for the last quarter of the season as 1/4 of 16 is 4. If you place people on LTIR I don't believe you gain that flexibility. I forget the reason behind why that is. Someone correct me if I got that all wrong. |

They created cap space, why is that bad? They've got room to add at the deadline if they wish. - burn
They should add someone whose UFA. Do a vet for vet add a late pick if you have to and see what happens. |

you have the theory of it correct.
except that you actually have to spend over the cap for the -ve cap consequences of ltir to take effect.
so if you wait to the TDL to overspend, you aren't restricted in adding. |

What I mean is Byron Froese has 8 more points in 3 less games. |

Yeah because comparing a 22 yo AHL rookie, playing his first season in NA to a guy who has been in the league for 5 years and is 25 makes sense. |

I saw article of by some math nerd. Came up with that forwards putting up ~.75 ppg ages 19-21 or 1 ppg ages 22-23 have a decent chance of making the nhl. |
