I thought Muller was an associate coach and not an assistant and could only be let go by Bergevin

I'd say the next guy to go is MB.

When?

I dunno.

The next 6 months are gonna be very important in determining that I think

If it fails completely yea and the results over the next 6-8 months will play a big part in that, draft and FA included

These gms always get the rest of the year the coach is fired.

And the next year with the new coach.

But in all honesty, MB has done a decent job with personnel too.

There's tools there, need a few more, let's wait and see.

Oh I'm with you, I really like what Bergevin has done, the way I see it they need 3 good pieces, it's not impossible he fills 2 of those before the deadline, even if one is as a rental

And when he says he's not gonna trade future for now.

I kinda think he's trying to lower the price.

Or is he that stupid??

Edit: He did say he wasn't trading PK.

Guess he's dumb like a fox..

He never really has, he's pretty consistent... I don't believe he's ever traded a 1st round pick, pre draft or after he's selected the player. He's added 3 significant players through trades or FA and 1 through the draft on the current roster, I don't see him breaking that trend and instead of trading a Sergachev or McCarron to get a sexier name like Duchene or RNH, he'll trade for a guy like Backlund in Calgary, which would be a great addition and nowhere near the price

Perhaps he means he is not going to throw prospects at someone who is going to walk away... but if a player has 2+years left on their contract, that is not really trading away the future for nothing.

That is how I interpreted it, at least.

Oh... I really have no interest in Iginla or Doan, I don't think they have much left to offer, I'd much prefer Vanek, Sharp or Vrbata as a rental W!

Or perhaps he's trying to lower the price.

You know, when you're in Mexico and you say you don't want that blanket, but you really do.

And 3 days later you buy that blanket for 1/3 the asking price?

Come on.

Yeah. Well, it was not the last blanket they had and there was not 29 other potential people interested in that blanket either. I hear what you are saying Pete, but I am not sure that impacts the trade cost of higher echelon players... maybe for fringe players, but not for the type of player this team needs.

Oh they have much left to offer.

Tell me, of the 5 you mentioned, give me an order of which you'd want defending your goalie in a a scrum.

Edit:because in the playoffs it's a different ball game...

Pittsburgh and Chicago are the 2 most successful franchises in the last decade and neither is built on that mentally, Habs need offense and Vanek/Vrbata provide way more of that than Iginla/Doan

But to answer your question.... Iginla, Doan, Sharp and a 2 way tie for last between Vanek and Vrbata

My point Mash is, he's gonna do something because he recognizes the window.

It's go time.

And he's not putting it out there to be in a position of weakness.

Or he's just a god damn idiot.

Well, sorry my blue friend.

In the playoffs you need some warriors, you salt an Iggy or a Doan into that lineup (which will never happen) you got something.

Not to mention experience..

I don't think he will pull off a big trade at the deadline, some minor tweaks. I do expect some big moves in the off season, based on what CJ wants to do with the team.

Then again, I did not think he had the balls to fire MT before the end of this season...
